The issue with aiming bows at least is the projectile fires from the tip of the bow, so it’ll go straight down, but not from where you’re expecting. You can easily adjust for this though.

The spears… I haven’t used recently enough to comment on. I remember them working similarly, but that was a long time ago.

its all the melee weapons. you can't aim up or down. thats why fighting on incline/decline is a bad time and you'll need to aggro the fight to a better location if possible. But yeah spears are by far one of the worst weapons in the game imo.

Play it in vr, you can swing your weapons with complete freedom of movement.

There is a mod that does this. should be pretty easy for the dev's. Don't know why they haven't fixed it.

Spears seem to always go at a fixed height compared to your character, regardless of how high or low you're looking. I'm not even sure they can aim up or down at all. They just kind of go straight ahead.

Viking's can't look down, similar to how Star Destroyers can't look up.

Trying to hit enemies just slightly lower than you with any melee weapons is a pain (as in, it doesn't work), but ESPECIALLY with the spear, since it always attacks at the same height unlike the different axe swings.

With the spear though you can do a point blank throw attack at downward facing foes. You should auto pick it back up right away assuming you have free slots and nothing else from the killed foe fills your pack up of course.

It’s not you, it’s hard to aim down. Arrows have the same problem up close.

No, you aren't unfortunately. You'll notice it a lot when fighting in the mountain biome as well, have to circle to get even level or lower against wolves. IMO, this is the #1 problem with the current combat mechanics.

Devs said it is something being worked on (or something that is on their list, hmmm, can't exactly recall which)

Have to use the bow on the boat. Even that is sketchy when they are right next to it.

It is extremely weird; the hit box for the direct hit (melee) is odd... For ranged combat it is even more strange. Basically just like you have to aim above their heads at a distance, you have to aim below their feet close up. The long distance part is cool, very realistic, the up close part.. not so much.
