Fires or Mobs scares the Pigs.. something is to close I bet

Just for my curiosity: why taming at all? I understand taming lox for riding could be fun, but boars and wolves?

I never tamed wolves myself but i've seen videos of people using them for "auto" (afk) farms for spawners.. that said i'm using stone hearths myself for that and it works just as good.
Other than that I wonder how good Wolves go up against plains mobs, even if you have a horde of them. If someone can tell me if it's worth it then I might consider taming them.

As for Boar taming it's pointless considering how quickly they respawn in meadows and at some point (late and post iron age) you don't need their resources (or have too many) anymore anyway.

Boars great for Sausages, Mincemeat sauce (both have three healing ticks and decent health) and wolves for dealing with annoying mobs, meats good too.

Ok, thx. For me meat supply is no issue cause i like running around hunting. For mobs it could be worth trying, but so far the spikes all around the base do a good job :)

Yeah, at least boar meat can be used in 2 foods (hp and stamina) but i don‘t know where to put all the deer meat, not speaking of the trophies (ok you can use 2 deer trophies for Eikthyr, but than his trophies and antler parts pile up) XD

Well if you want a Pig farm.. have it, there is no right way to play the game.
Hell, not even kil the bosses are the right way to play the game. If you want more stuff to do then you need to kill Bosses to advance in game without consol commands...

Beware, when you kill your first troll, then the troll event will come to your base... Pigs and Trolls dont mix :D

Deer meat, we use exclusively for wolves, breeding and it heals them better than boar meat. Blueberry is better saved for potions and mead, so Deer stew isn't amazing to me, though it has its merits. Those trophies can also be used to make Stagbreaker, probably the most fun primitive weapon. Walk slow and carry a big stick.

so they can detect fire even if its in another building and enclosed from them?

yeah, and even torches seem to cause them to freak out. I dont worry, did at first, but they just run around squeeeeeeeeeing, so no big deal, imo. Keep lights away from breeding pens, which can be simple as round pole walls, dont have to be fancy with pig pens, space is what you really want to breed plenty.

well ♥♥♥♥, guesss im going to have to move the pen so they stop freaking out and will actually breed, squeeeing piggies dont produce more piggies

what i found works well is five pens, arranged in a circle with about 6m between each pen (one long core wood log and a short one for spacing). With five pens you can get over a stack of meat off a single breeding, so its like 10 mushroom/carrot/whatever for 20+ meat (using two star boar). Once you feed simply hang out a few minutes, wandering off can cause them to stop breeding, think the game culls some actions from happening away from players for the most part, so keep it in mind.

I gotta disagree. you can produce stacks of meat faster then you can hunt them wild, and still get other things done in the same time window. If you want to manually farm I'd hit Draugr villages, get the entrails, add thistle and make sausages. Those will carry you for the rest of the game (currently) honestly, i use sausage, onion and turnip soups in plains all the time.

... and not sure on plains mobs, doubt wolves would be great as they are 'lower tier' mobs themselves
