Frost resist effect from the mead and from a cape / wolf armor are all the same ; 50%.
Poison resist from mead is 75% whereas root armor provides 50%. Only the higher applies.

So it is worth taking a poison mead if you plan to encounter poison enemies, even when using root armor. But frost mead is useful only for corpse runs once you get a wolf or lox cape equiped. Mead provides no extra damage reduction against Moder or drakes attacks, even when wet (unless it all changed recently).

Just to add a note here. Wolf chest also offers cold resistance. Personally I don't like either cape and use the troll cape until I get linen. Looks better to me and no difference in armor value.

Resistance from potions are stronger than resistance from armor. I know for sure this is the case with root armor which gives you only 50% poison resistance, while potion gives you 75%. I think it works the same with frost and fire resistances. So i would suggest you to take frost resistance potion when you decide to fight Moder.

Nope they have the same effect, it doesnt stack ; effects are redundant, not cumulative.

You might want to keep some frost resist meads, in case of the occasional corpse run though.
