It's not about pushing updates as fast as possible. They clearly have a vision of what Valheim should be.
You bought an early access game!

https://youtu.be/BUxrOEVMoUQIf their vision is snail paced development and dishing out content lesser than what modders can push in a week then sure by all means all the success to them . This update added cosmetic building assets and nerfed already punishing mechanics, so whats next? and when? since the road map was butchered beyond comprehension.

We understand early access. We dont understand how it can take nearly a year for this tiny amount of content. Do you understand that? At the rate they're delivering promises, we will never see the complete roadmap in our lifetimes.

Time is moot when you stay young forever if the end product is one of the best game of its kind (I'm not saying it will be, but it has the potential). In 2024 if Valheim stays a best seller, its development time is a non-issuehttps://youtu.be/BUxrOEVMoUQIf their vision is snail paced development and dishing out content lesser than what modders can push in a week then sure by all means all the success to them . I think people need to understand the last 6 months for anyone can be troublesome, people may have had things going on in real life holding back development etc.
It happens.
Also people are quick to point fingers and thing only small things have been done, for all we know they have been doing multiple things at the same time while doing Hearth and Home content.

some of you people seem to think that the guise of early access has any meaning at all anymore. Pretty much every development team is using it as a fail safe get rich quick scheme to fund their fantasy projects and allow people with little to no experience in running a business do so. This company is no different, it sit on indigogo for years with hardly any work being done. It also took them six months just to hire on a few entry level developers who probably have little to no experience in the industry either from the looks of how young they are.
Why are you all praising a few hours of coding as some major update in 6 months? This is the unity engine, it does like 90% of the coding work for you with its c sharp script. If anything you all should be pissed off about this as its obvious from anyone with coding knowledge of unity or even the more advanced unreal engine, this dev team is slacking off working part time hours on this game. I guess some of your expectations is way lower because of burn out of other games or whatever reason. I do not think a lot of you understand what sort of negative effect this will have on the industry though. Other companies are taking note right now of what the customer base is willing to accept and time frames you can bet money on it. Slow progress and a willingness to accept no sort of pressure to deliver.

That is not entirely accurate is it though. Well I am assuming you may have experience for you to say all that, but do you?
Unity isn't so streamlined as you think, it can easily get messy.

so whats next? and when?
I think mistlands update is next. Should be released probably sometime in 2023 if they keep up with the current development speed. And I'm not even joking, if it takes 7 months for a minor update like the home & heart update. An actual big update that ads actual new content and map changes is probably going to take close to 2 years.

compared to any normal engine created in house unity is flexible and easy so my statement is completely accurate. I use unreal engine regularly for both modding and app development in my career I am fully aware of both engines. If you want to argue the pro's and con's of both engines you are more than welcome to do so but if you also are naive and believe this company spent the last six months coding this then they are no better than amateur modders. Why are you all praising a few hours of coding as some major update in 6 months? EA is no longer a shield to stand behind when it is obvious their timetable when I bought the game has plummeted into years beyond the EA schedule they set before I paid.

Ah yes, early access, therefore its immune to any form of criticism.
Grow up you fanboys, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
I dont even mind the update that much, they just need to buff the stupid stamina HP nerfs they did,

this is a common practice for all EA games. Its something that steam should address with companies like Snail games for example using it to make initial money then abandon their games. Steam does not care though until the customer starts putting more value in their own money and not buying every single new title listed here. Once we purchase there is ZERO we can do about it so these companies make their profits then move on to other projects for their next venture while dribbling small updates for years. EA is no longer a shield to stand behind when it is obvious their timetable when I bought the game has plummeted into years beyond the EA schedule they set before I paid.
