First time in or around the Plains; consider the Root Harnesk.
For those of you who might be exploring near, sailing near or just setting foot into the Plains you might want to consider wearing the Root Harnesk.
Personally I was one to wear Troll Armor when out exploring as I liked the light weight and increased sneak, but on a whim decided to test out the Root Harnesk.
Death-squitos no more. The harness was actually far better than I expected in defeating ambush blood sucker attacks.
It is weak to fire, but staying away from torch bearing bad guys is not really too hard.
So if you don't like being pin-cushioned when you sail by the plains give the root a go!

I wish they would add 2, 3 armor bonuses like the 4 piece set bonuses.. that way you could mix and match sets.. would be kinda fun I think. Like all 4 troll gives you 15 sneak but 2 gives you 5 3 would be 10 etc.. and then you could cross that with another 2 set piece. would be kinda nice. Right now I am using T2 troll cape/hood and T2 Bronze chest/legs and I'm getting ready to head into the swamp. This play-through I'm trying not to lvl anything above T2 just so the progression to the next tier feels more meaningful.

Usually I'm in full iron/silver. This play-through though I wanna try different sets and I'm gonna try this one for sure it sounds pretty good.

I thought about trying it, but couldn't bring myself to take out any more abominations. I'm trying to go straight to fenris, and wearing flammable armor in an ice cave seems like a bad idea. :-)
With max troll armor and good health I can take 3-4 stings, which has been more than enough so far for passing through / near the plains.

It's not absolutely necessary for Plains or anywhere else, but considering how useful root harnesk is in both plains and mistlands, it's pretty much top tier upper armor right now. It will work wonders not against just squitos, but also spear fulings, seekers and dvergr. You'll just need to equip yourself with some barley wine to make up for the vulnerability, especially against gjall once the current public test goes live.

I always hated the movement speed debuff and got hundreds hours with this playstyle. Im using root harnesk as solid end game
gear together with fenris legs.
Combine root armor with fire res potions, and pick fights against fire enemies when its raining. Wet status is actually a good thing when your using root harnesk.
