Would it not be more fair to call that guy cancer? No achievements. This week I saw someone in the Risk of Rain 2 forum say that the newly released DLC didn't give any reason to play it because of no new achievements. Two new characters, new stages, new enemies, new items, new soundtrack... But no new content worth playing because no new busy work.
Achievements are a cancer.
Then to call achievements them selfs cancer?
They only have the weight people give them, and i would like them as well, but them not been there is not going to stop me from playing valheim. On the other hand if they where here i might grind for them.

I think adding Achievements is at the bottom of Coffee Stain's and the community's list. LOL

But what difference does it make? You know you did it, do you really need a program to tell you good job? true i hope so i have done so much and it just sucks i dont get an achievement for it
Yes.
Jokes aside, many people enjoy achievements, and it's not just something people go for to garner admiration from others. I'm sure you enjoy things others don't, so a little less judgement all around would probably benefit everyone.

"achievements" just a less fancy word for quest. some people need to be told what to do. and some people just do.But what difference does it make? You know you did it, do you really need a program to tell you good job?

Yeah, I know when I accomplished something. Usually it’s something that‘s not measurable anyway. It’s something I value as an achievement, not the game.

While I agree that achievements are a social flaw, and that some are pretty ridiculous (soon you'll get an achievement for clicking somewhere on the user interface), or just a benchmark on how far you played through the tutorial, or explored various game settings/ends, they would be a way to promote players within the playing community, when they invest themselves in some narrow aspects of the game, for example "Kill Boss X in the first Y days" or "Kill all bosses using a pointy weapon only" whereas the game doesn't force other players to act like this. Other achievements for dedication/"no-life" playstyle could be "Collect X gold coins" or "Fill first chest full of bones".
Other achievements could be mischevious and fun, like mini games: "Fall into water from more than 35 meters" (where exact number would correspond to the highest "tower" built on top of a fairly rare high coastal rock)
Alas, I don't know if there could be an achievement for "Build a nice-looking castle with twenty rooms", which in contrast would truely be a community achievement.

It makes sense to have achievements after the game is fully released out of Early Access.
