Immersion is lost
When this game came out, I, as will as the rest of the world, was obsessed with it!! You just got plunked down into this world, and without reading any kind of manual, just started playing, hunting, building. exploring. The deaths were brutally painful, losing all your stuff and being far from home, having to start over, until you changed your strategies. So cool, and so fun. The key to the early success was IMMERSION. You got totally transported into this world and nothing took you out, except a screaming wife, kid, work, or a bio break...and even then.... lol
From there, the updates started. The game save happens often, and on my rig, freezes me up, many times in the middle of battle, and destroys immersion. Oh, I'm playing a game, that is saving and in the middle of a fight.. ok... hum de dum...
Then the blinkers on the mobs. Look. if a boar is running at me, a boar is running at me, I don't need a big exclamation mark. Now this is just like all the other games out there. The blinkers nullify the immersion.
Then the new food system. Im not going to get into that here, except to say, now I have three food numbers constantly blinking at me, and the stamina now blinking at me. Needles to say, Im distracted by all the blinking things which weren't there before. Reduces Immersion greatly
This is their game, and they can do whatever they want. My point is, out of the gate, it was tremendously immersive, and I believe that was a big key to its early success. Now all the saves, and blinking times, and icons, reduce that immersion now, for me, almost to zero. And for that, Im sad.

Not a problem overall for me but I'm not a fan of new numbers in the UI either. I hope it could be turned off someday in the future.

Who says they hate the game? And why respond if you find it so boring? This is the correct forum to talk about the game. *boring topic

I think it's a reasonable request, and it seems that we already have the ability to turn off the UI.

Question is valid: how much obtrusive a UI you wish when you don't fully turn it off. Should there be several degrees of helpful/turned off states?

The immersion you felt had nothing to do with anything you mentioned. We all got soaked into the game because no one knew anything about it. Every new item you picked up had the potential of teaching you a new recipe, and that was exhilarating. Exploring new biomes, wondering what new things you can learn or what new enemies there are lurking around the corner, was a feeling we'll never be able to have again.
No amount of changing the UI or stamina/health/whatever will ever get that immersion back. You think it will, but it won't, and you have to be okay with that in order to simply enjoy the game.

game save has always been an issue (one that has certainly improved since launch), blinkers on the mobs and food have been there the entire time, so how were you immersed before?

depends on the mods your using. the ones that give you a flaming sword that one shots Yagluth would break immersion no question, but one that let you do all the metals in just a blast furnace, or increases the area of the map reveled in the mini map to something closer to what you actually see in your view can actually improve the immersion for some. well at least You haven't downloaded any MODS, those are killer for That, unless an Entire "Overhaul"
