How to make the boss spawn in the correct place

Hello fellow vikings.
I'm currently trying to fight the Elder right now. I created a portal near the summoning alter for him. I'm going back and forth between my base and the place where I'm supposed to fight him. The problem is, when I return to the fighting area, the Elder does not spawn in his Arena. He spawns 50 - 100 meters away. The arena is the only place I can fight him where I can get good cover. But when I run back to the arena, he will not chase me there. So I'm stuck fighting him in the middle of the black forest with trees falling all around me.

I don't know if I'm describing this very well, so I'll use an analogy using a real life geographic area. The arena/alter is the Capitol building in Washington DC, if you've ever been there. If not, you can look it up on google maps. I want to fight the Elder at the Capitol building. My Portal is at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.. And every time I return to DC through my portal, the Elder suddenly spawns all the way at the Whitehouse, which is to the west of the museum while the Capitol building is to the east.

How do I make the Elder spawn at the Capitol Building and not the Whitehouse? He has been summonned, I don't think I can un-summon him or re-summon him. But is there a way to get around this stupid bug?

Absolutely do not attempt to resummon him. Resummoning him will spawn another Elder, and then you'll have to fight two.

That being said, it might be best to find another altar to summon him at, and simply avoid the current one until you are much better geared and can come back to take him out when it will be much more trivial to do so.

If he won't follow you, can't you just outrange him?

After you're done setting him on fire with arrows and stamping out whatever smouldering ashes are left, you can consider resummoning him to see if he winds up in the right spot next time.
