Check your windows firewall settings in addition to your anti-virus settings and any other firewalls you have installed. The game may need to be in the exceptions list for all of them.

I tried to ping that IP address and it is not working at all. Definitely check your IP online to make sure it's the correct IP. You can simply go online and google "what's my IP" on whatever system you have running your server and your public IP will pop up. This will differ from your local IP, the one you see if you use cmd to run ipconfig.

It's entirely possible you're just trying to do this with the wrong IP address. This is pretty much what GinsengSamurai is suggesting at the bottom of their last post as well. Most of us don't keep the same IP unless you've requested that from your ISP.

Yes that is what is shown on "whatismyipaddress" and i will definitely call my provider for a static ip address thank you for bringing it up, i already tried with making exception from windows firewall , is there a way to share screenshots here or do i need to use a image host to share the screenshot? Just tried with all three ports. It just gives a "Failed to connect" message.

Make sure your TCP port range, UDP port range, and Valheim server app through TCP and UDP are added to your Inbound firewall rules.

I have bitdefender and I think I have declared it as excepted, I am really lost now,

found the firewall rules i have set under valheim_server.exe protocol any traffic both ports 2456,2457,2458 the ip is my public ip address did i get it right? please retry to connect thank you.

well its weird i have turned off the firewall of bitdefender now but when i try using my computer [same unit as with the dedicated server] it still give me failed to connect

Unfortunately, it still failed to connect.

In your inbound rules, there should be four entries:

- Valheim TCP, Specific Ports, 2456-2458 (or whatever you're using)
- Valheim UDP, Specific Ports, 2456-2458 (etc)
- Valheim TCP Server, D:\steamlibrary\steamapps\common\valheim dedicated server\valheim_server.exe (or whatever your path is), All Ports, TCP
- Valheim UDP Server, D:\steamlibrary\steamapps\common\valheim dedicated server\valheim_server.exe (etc), All Ports, UDP

Can you give me the link where you got your Dedicated Server setup guide?

Also, can you check again your external IP address my typing My IP in the search and see if it matches the one you posted above?

Basically, if you are buying internet service that doesn't give you a dedicated IP address, then your external IP may change if your router/modem is powered down or resetted. Also, your dedicated host company may also have its internal IP change every time you restart the computer.
