Valhiem Melting GPU
I have a 1080 Ti and usually have pretty much no problems running games, temp usually maxes out at 75-80C on games like fallout 4 and Deep Rock Galactic. However, the mere act of loading valhiem immediately launches the temp into the low 90s, and my computer sounds like a vacuum cleaner. I've seen a few other people with this problem, is there any way to fix it?

game needs optimization pass nothing you can do but cap frame rates and besides your eye only sees 60 fps or less so anything more is pointless.

I tried reducing to 40 fps with no effect. Its a shame this game is so badly optimized. I really want to play it but i'm definitely going to fry my graphics card if it stays this way. game needs optimization pass nothing you can do but cap frame rates and besides your eye only sees 60 fps or less so anything more is pointless.

You need to force it through your game graphic card (in my Radeon i can create a game profile and set max fps), i tried in game and it had no effect on the temperature.I tried reducing to 40 fps with no effect. Yeah, it is pretty weird...I have a rx580 and it runs normal and cool, my buddies that I play with have 1080 and a 5700xt and both their cards are running hot in the mistlands. Seems to be a bit better once you get the wisp light, so I am guessing the fog is causing it, at least in their case. If you haven't, I would look into setting a custom fan curve on your gpu...but I am guessing if it sounds like a vacuum cleaner the fans are probably close to maxed already.

I have my fan curves well optimized already, and I haven't heard of this fog you speak of - I got back into the game for this update and I'm currently living in a shack on the coast. My fps is capped at 80.

Only way i was able to "fix" it is by capping the max framerate anywhere between 30 to 60 fps (directly from the video card panel). With this I'm able to have it at around 60-65 Celsius. Without capping, even if i put everything on low i have like 90+ Celsius and even PC shut down cause temp is too high. I have a Radeon Rx 480 (8gb) and a ryzen9 3900x.
Edit: and all of this is with fans optimized and even undervolting on gpu.
