I see you solved the problem but i might add... On the map i temporarily place quite a few fireplace markers (or one you dont often use!) to point the direction away from the tombstone and around awkward terrain..so whilst running i can see minimap and stay on course . absolutely handy!! imho (ps just ticked over 1000 game days )

Well done. Those corpse recovery skills will come in handy in the next biome (I had up to three deaths to recover from, each of which was being spawn camped by some sort of nasty mob)

SPOILER ALERT: ahh the old Abomination surprise by sitting on the crypt trick! stupidly ran from it into waiting leeches.. didnt take my own advise re minimap! :-( duh!

When you are not skilled enough and meet 1 or 2 star skeleton, is better run out. It will follow you. When you are at entrance, from there is possible to kill it using bow. It is not able to jump on this stair. At yor first couple of burial chambers you have no chance agains it in regular fight. Upgrade your buckler to max level asap - club will wait a litlebit.

Abomination was one. Two star Draugr was another. Finally, a Draugr Archer and Wraith (night only, I know... but the first time, I didn't know). The Leeches don't bother me much. I pay attention to what is and is not land. I'm never swimming in swamp water. Worst case, I'm jumping through it.

use a club skelly doesnt like it and a shield- you can make those , put some clothes on...eat meat

I'd be willing to help run protection so you can get back to your body if you keep having difficulties on your own. There's also a Reddit group that does this, but I've never used their services so I don't know much about it. Hit me up if you need help!

Getting killed in a dungeon can be hard. I know, I've been there before. Here are some tips to get your stuff back.

1. Eat up on the best buff food you have. If you go into the Black Forest, you should eat at least deer, pork and honey. (I assume you do not have the cauldron yet.) That will give you at least some protection when doing the next step.
2. Naked corpse runs are a thing. Do not have ANYTHING in your inventory, so you can pick yourself up with a press of a button (E key) and run away. I know this is hard in a dungeon, but you can do it! If you press the V key you can toggle between auto pickup or no pickup, so you don't actually pick up stuff during the run you don't want.

The point is to be always(!) well fed. If your health is high, you can take a lot more hits before you die, and with the corpse run buff (stamina drain is very low once you have picked yourself up) you can run away from anything threatening.

Run away in the direction of your home. Have a home not too far away when braving dangerous new grounds. If need be, renovate an old hut to act as a forward operation base, so you can be save inside and can repair yourself. Have at least a fireplace, a workbench and a bed there. Chests are good to have as well.

Edit: A level 3 wooden shield will protect you from anything in the Black Forest, except, well, Trolls.
