i dont get the logic why a ballista that ive build then magically aims at me to kill me
traps and spikes are fine - if im not aware and trip into them i deserve a little wound

but please devs, rethink the ballista concept

remove the player from the target list

or

make checkboxes so one can choose wich target the ballista can shoot at

Yeah, let's make them target enemies only, because Valheim needs to be turned into tower defense game.

Because that's what Ballistas usually do? This in no way makes it a tower defense game. I thought at least we could pilot the Ballista themselves

Better tower defense mechanics than dig your moat gameplay for hours.

There is a mod that makes ballista only shoot enemies

The answer to both of our questions is the same

it knows the true enemy

Probably to keep things balanced, that you don't just plop them willy-nilly and expect your mountains of core wood to help you out without issue. Also rewards clever base design where their sightlines only contain enemies and not vikings.

If you want help in a fight and not to get attacked, try taming Lox or two-star Wolves. Of course... now that you've killed Yagluth, those pets are more an expendable distraction and less of a legitimate help.
