I enjoyed but quit the game months ago after I defeated all the bosses. Figured I'd wait on new content.
I was pretty disappointed to see that the first major update doesn't add a single bit of game-play expansion.
Hearth & Home has ALWAYS been the first major content update planned, the name should give clues that it's going to be primarily focused on construction, base enhancements & general survival. I do appreciate not everyone plays for the same reasons or enjoys the same things, but there isn't any surprises in the general theme of this upcoming update release.
And for a GREAT majority of us, building & base management is actually our primary game play focus, so for us it is the game-play expansion we're on the edge of our seats for :)
If you want more combat & biome focused content, the updates following this one will be the ones for you to keep an eye on the Announcements for.

When you have enough gold piles and gems, maybe can tame Moder to come sit on it.

Actually, THAT would be a pretty nice idea! A gigantic room, filled with lots of those LAME and DISSAPOINTING gold piles would really be an eye-catcher if you could get a Moder (in original size) to be sitting on it. When you have enough gold piles and gems, maybe can tame Moder to come sit on it.
Moder would be purely cosmetic, but a bit animated, like it would move it's head a bit and sometimes possibly make mild sounds, kind of like the head trophies do (with their speeches).

i hope theyre adding a lot more than just a way to make a vault look neat.
gold is worthless after you buy all 4 useful items.
ymir flesh for the hammers, megingjord to increase carryweight by 150, headlight crystal thingy. and a fishing rod. it would be nice if he had more to sell.

I think a lot of people love to decorate and the upcoming patch is likely going to be loaded with decorations. If you are not into home building, you may not get much out of it.

Missing out on what exactly? It serves no purpose, and the trader doesn't have much to buy. Unless role playing is your thing, then have fun I guess. Don't you have any gold to pile up on your server? If that's the case I'm sorry you'll be missing out.

No dwarves in Valheim (the game) 1st off..."And not all treasures need be made of gold neither: Theres chalices, tapestries, ornamental weapons, and even furniture that could take a lifetime of diligent work by a perfectionist that ends up in a barrow just because its so beautiful that the owner wants to take it with them to Valhalla rathern give it up to Hela. Statues done in rare metals and set with gems, made to look like angels by the way the sunshine catches their wings just so, made from the purest metals slaved over lovingly by a smiths hands. "
Had they come out with more than hey you can put gold coins on a table. i'd not have posted.

You know what dwarves love?
Gold.
Its a known fact that even in the old times, before the Tolkiening, dwarves were fae spirits who loved the gifts of the earth and the work of their own hands. Ifn yer complaining about being able to show it off, then clearly ye dunnae know anything bout how beautiful coins can be, nor the craftsmanship that can go into making even one.
Have you ever seen a lovingly crafted coin made out of obsidian fer example? Runescape might have crudely carved Tokkul, but some collectors would spend dearly for a beautiful piece of art etched carefully in the brittle rock. Ever seen ruby coins? Diamond coins? Coins made of crystal that shine like a glass prism in the light? Such things go beyond the mere value of the material used to make it, and take a value of their own just from the sheer artistry that went into it.
And not all treasures need be made of gold neither: Theres chalices, tapestries, ornamental weapons, and even furniture that could take a lifetime of diligent work by a perfectionist that ends up in a barrow just because its so beautiful that the owner wants to take it with them to Valhalla rathern give it up to Hela. Statues done in rare metals and set with gems, made to look like angels by the way the sunshine catches their wings just so, made from the purest metals slaved over lovingly by a smiths hands. Things prized by thieves and collectors the world over. Doors built to not only open halls, but to open minds to the histories of the worlds that came before us.
And yer tellin me, you dont want none o' it?
Well, thats your own shame then. Ye can sit in yer roughshod chair, made in a night out o' sticks and determination, and warm yer hands o'er a simple fire. As fer us, means more gold an treasure fer us. And Haldor over there. Now theres a dwarf who can appreciate the kenning of a fine piece of work.
