Why can Draugrs (and others) still shoot arrows/attack while completely underwater?
Don't tell me its intentional that enemys just casually walk under water and shoot at me while 2m under water? Like okay let them swim but nerf them in a way the players abilitys are nerfed while in water.

haven't read such bs in a while. game is in damn early access they should be glad about player feedback.
Physics on the boat stops when everyone gets off. The boat will just bob up and down but not float away.
If you're having trouble with your boat getting destroyed, then do something about it. This thread is not doing something about it. Building some protection around your boat would do something about it. Make sure all the enemies have been killed around your boat is doing something about it. Or just take the quick and dirty way of destroying your boat and putting the resources in a chest is doing something about it.
Seriously, do some problem solving.
When you take damage from an enemy, do you do something about it or go make a thread about how the enemies cause damage?
Enemies cause damage, even to boats. Do something about it.if it's intended I hope devs overthink this "feature" because it's super annoying when i build a swamp base and go the extra mile to build a pier like 80m from shore to secure my ship and some draugr with a bow just walks towards it underwater and destroys it while im gone.
I don't get why all mobs must be able to swim at all, i get its hardcore but damn i hate to come back to my base only to find my ship destroyed its not even fun, its just a drag and a giant f u to the player imo
if you would've read i tried doing something about it but the game still finds a way to f up my effort, great design btwThis right here is also a good example, happened so many times that one of them just walked right under my boat and theres no way to defend against it. sure you can drive the boat away and then try to shoot the thing in the water but then you have to deal with the terrible aiming angles while shooting from a boat, the takeaway here is, if simple stuff like this is frustrating then its bad design. I doubt it is intentional, more liekly the devs just didn't add code to the arrow mechanics to make them slow down rapidly in water and IG just hasen't gotten round to fixing it or they just don't care about it.
Personally it ticks me of to no end. I've had a few Karves shot out from under me when I couldn't even get a line of sight on the attackers. Then I had to go back and get my gear in another boat with the mobs still camping under my marker. Did not like.
I gave you solutions and you call that BS?
Fine. This is how I see things.
You can't problem solve something that even you, call simple. Problem solving "simple" is apparently, too frustrating and hard for you.
OMG, enemies do damage. Can we stop these enemies from doing damage? It's too complicated for me to deal with.
Good day, Mr. Simple Is Too Hard For Me.

I totally agree, this is very well put. Also the realism argument is so easily deconstructed once you go deeper into the subject, like a sturd longboat with thick wooden planks could not be sunk with crude bow and arrow, not even with a sword, atleast not by hitting it with the blade. Thenk using a bow underwater massively reduces kinetic energy and slowing the arrow down so it can only travel very small distances.I suppose its the fact that your alive and need to breathe, and draugrs and skeletons and such don't need to breathe?
I have to agree with Mr Silverhand.
"Realism" especially as it applies to fantasy worlds and concepts, is absolutely useless in video games.
Doesn't sound like there's much you can do about this so that makes it bad design. I'm not even to this part of the game and it's already sounding disappointing, like why even build a ship.
Like most issues with this game it seems mods will have to solve the problem.
The community is committed to enabling the slow and terribly guided development of this game so guess there's not much else to say besides hope some modder fixes it or already has.
I see no reason for the devs to ruin fun for the sake of realism aswell, its worse enough that shooting four arrows in a row exhausts you as much as sprinting 500m. Sure games still in EA but things like stamina and enemys with bloated HP need better balancing.

player characters aren't even "alive," they died and got picked up by valkyries or smth according to the intro.
also damn just give us anchors or lines to tie boats to docks.

THIS! Why dont we get anchors and ropes for harbors to secure the boats. No Viking would have his ship floating around like this....

I tend to use a hoe or an ancient tree as a spot to dock my boat and usually whenever I do use a boat I will destroy it once my resources are safe and then immediately set up a portal and stow away said boat in a chest just in case I need it.
I recently relocated to another plains area and use the hoe to make a decent landing spot + road for cart use to move all the metals. Then I destroyed the long ship since I didn't need it anymore.
edit: I have used stone for wharves before as that is a bit more resilient then just wood.

Well when looking into the game, it has a huge focus of realism, you can't build large buildings without support, ships get damaged by storms, skeletons are weak to blunt damage as greydwarfs/lings are weak to torches. So the fact that undead do not have to breathe what-so-ever, it makes sense they can shoot bows and such under water.

If this game had a focus on realism, we'd be able to use tools and weapons and actually freakin' dive under water. So no, that argument goes right out the window.
I agree 100% with the OP here. It's ridiculous.

Yeh, don't bother. The shills and simps are gonna trash anyone who gives feedback, be it negative or a suggestion to change something for the better. They want the game to stay stale and uninteresting and it'll end up hurting the overall community and the game it self long before it releases officially.
The shills and simps refuse to see any flaws in the game. It's disgusting, the way they behave, it truly is.

My boats regulary get damaged in the harbor away from the harbor walls. MOBs keep spawning and swim over depending on harbor construction and location. I dont want to create huge earthen walls to protect the boat around all my harbors because it looks damn butt ugly and adds to lag....
I could put some fireplaces on the shores close by and bury some workbenches to surpress spawn but thats also not a proper solution.
