Obliterator needs a buff.
I placed HUNDREDS of items in it at once, ranging from crafting ingedients to old gear, filled every slot except for one for safety reasons, and I got 34 coal out of it.
I know it's just meant to be a trash can, but... Are you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ serious?
Immediately dismantled and went back to dumping garbage in the ocean.

Only thing i find annoying with the obliterator is that is seems to damage nearby structures when used.

obliterator only exists so you can destroy entities without running far away from your base, like dumping them in the ocean or w/e
it was never made to be a "crafting" station

Looks like someone is getting coal for Christmas.

This. It's "obliterator", not "recycler". But I wouldn't mind getting little more coal out of it.

I've always thought you should get at least some sort of useful returns back for putting stuff in the obliterator and not just coal.

just like in real life, if you throw your garbage in the ocean, it disappears.

I think we should be able to put in a few skeleton bones and get x100 soft tissue. Seems fair.

Pfft. Gets a useful item and a light show. "Completely worthless!"
Dumps trash into ocean for 0 reward or spectacle. "That's more like it!"
I think that's the worst part, actually. We all know how long the Mistlands update took. It's a pretty cool machine, but how long do you think it took to make the assets to give us like 7 coal per 100 items?

there are so many fun, useful and interesting things they could do with the obliterator for low development cost. Like, put a dragon egg in there to get regular egg. or break metallic gear into a bar each, or other items into their component materials.
mechanically, the obliterator just gives a convenience that most games have built into the UI... you have to work hard to acquire the materials just to make a basic game function. it looks fantastic and dazzling - so powerful it damages YOU and the surroundings. yet its only additional function (on top of being a delete key) is extreeemely stingy. it's like wasted design space.
I'll put it this way; I love the obliterator and I'll probably never build a second one.

Obliterator is fine. I just throw extra stuff in it when I walk past it instead of wasting a bunch of time travelling to an ocean to dump stuff and I get a little coal out of it which saves me time chopping and replanting trees and filling the kiln. Win/win as far as I'm concerned.

Perhaps it would make for a better defense tool. Lure a bunch of enemies next to it, summon the thunder.

They design the entire game around this one sentence.
"Let's make this take longer, it's not tedious, boring or frustrating enough"
They think it's funny. And like 10 players actually like it that way so yea that's how it's gonna be now.
