I beat the game in 54 days. Random seed, no sleep, permadeath, no cheese, no exploits, only PAIN

I know people have speedrun the game using cheese/exploits in absurdly short amounts of time, but is there a community of legit hardcore speedrunners out there?

I'm at... over 900 days? Bonemass is next. :steamhappy:

Nah, whatever rocks your boat. Congrats! Sincerely. I could never do that, though.

What percentage of time do legit speedrun communities spend playing the game vs. arguing the definition of 'legit'?

I don't know, technically I could do a speed run in under an hour with no mods.. here is how.

-devcommands
-debugmode
-exploremap
Hit "Z"
Go to first boss.
-spawn TrophyDeer 3
Summon first boss.
Hit "k" when it is done spawning.
Collect trophy, go to Elder...

You see where I am going with this?

This is not a speed run kind of game so if there is one, its a really tiny community.

I personally feel you just lost the game... but that's just IMO, your feelings will differ.

I set a goal for myself, accomplished it and had a ton of fun doing so. By virtually every metric I can imagine, that counts as winning.

I think that this feat is kind of a metric, indeed, to evaluate one aspect of the game, and sure to be useful for devs if their alpha team did not already provide them this feedback.

But by no mean should this number be understood as measuring some "game content" or game depth".

no offence, but what's the point of speedrunning a sandbox game?

What's the point of anything in a sandbox game? Fun.

I slept in real life... i just didn't sleep or even build a bed in the game.

Now what did I learn? Quite a bit... For example:

Troll armor is as good if not better than bronze and is much more fun and quick to make/upgrade.

If I am careful, I can skip building iron gear altogether and save all that iron ore for padded gear, saving me even more time.

I also had an over-abundance of food. I should just focus on 3 kinds, mass produce them, and when I think I'll have enough for the rest of the game, leave it be.

I should pick one weapon type and focus on it from start to finish. This run, I trained daggers, spears, maces, swords and polearms. A lot of that training went to waste when I switched weapon types.

I bet my next run will be under 45 days.

You should do Youtube videos for this sort of thing. It's fun to watch them for some people.

Nice work KZA, I like that you skipped iron armour, I did that one run but I haven't done permadeath before so I spose if I did I wouldn't need a bed then. I also like to base how quick I beat the game off the in game days rather that actual time played. 54 days sounds bloody good man. I've only gotten about 160days. I will join you in trying to impress odin by quickly despatching his troublesome foes.

I think dagger is all you need most fights and a mace for those squishy and boney enemies. I'm gonna send a friend request hope I can strategize with you.

I could never play the game this way (or any game for that matter).

However, I love to see the different types of playthroughs that players try and the different strategies that come out of them.

So ty for sharing!
