I haven't seen a Red Troll either

I met 3 of them but it was late game when i was already fully upgraded and I didn't want to fight them.
Instead fighting, I took them to plains to make some mess.
The first one took down half of a small fuling village before he was killed.
The second one wasn't that lucky... I introduced him with a 2 star Berserker. He didn't stand any chances.
The third one also didn't have much luck. He barely made it to fuling village because there were a lot of loxes and deatsquitoes on the way.

Think you definitely could've taken him down. An atgeir is without a doubt one of the best weapons to take on a troll, just needed to re-consume your food buffs and potentially rest somewhere in case the fight would've taken too long and the buff expired. Dodging and alt attack atgeir is my main strategy against a troll.

I found that using a dagger with a shield strong enough to parry the troll is better, assuming you know how to parry trolls.

I found my first red 2-star log-weilding troll inside a cave ... It took a lot of arrows to put him down! ... I hadn't upgraded to the fine bow, yet.

It was early game days for me, and I just went out exploring as far as I could.

I've faced one once. Bronze gear will take quite a while to take it down. Good plan to hold off. It will still be there when you are ready. Hope you marked it on your map.

I saw one the other day. I swear he was hitting like 450 damage on things, lol. We only killed him because he smashed a huge rock he was standing on into pieces and accidentally created a pit, which trapped him.

First time I discovered that the big guys can spawn as 1 and 2 star variants. Can Abominations also do that? We killed like 50 of those things to make and fully upgrade the armour set for both of us, and never saw any with a star or two. We'd also never seen a Troll with a star or two either, and we'd (up until that point) murdered many, many of them for troll armour and upgrades, and just while gathering copper and tin + hunting for a merchant...so it was quite a big surprise all of a sudden, lol. Is it progression locked, or just mega rare?

It'd be a horrifying experience to enter a troll cave and be met with another two star troll, lol.

I hope one day three star enemies exist.

Ahh yep, seen a few of them. Good fun to kill, too.

Current thread only had a 1-star but he was my new best friend when I let him take on a lox that had chased me into the adjoining black forest. He did so well, I went and got the other two lox to come after me as well.

Nice. Don't think I've encountered that either... not from what I can remember at least.

I like the rarity of them, but I'm not sure what I'd like to see from it. It's just a troll in the end - no resources I need from killing it, and the rarity of them would almost make me want to leave it alone for that sake. Should they leave a different kind of trophy? A 2*troll head?
Is there a kill-list in Valheim to see what creatures and tier of them you've killed?

I'm still yet to see one! That's cool. :) I've caught a few 1-star trolls that are the brighter teal blue. :)
