Tis fine, any mistlands you've already uncovered prior to patch won't generate the new stuff properly but still spawn enemies. My original map had some large spots explored but there was loads and loads more that wasn't explored, mistlands is quite expansive so I doubt highly anyone explored enough to brick their worlds.

I also tried a new map after update, flew around to check and the generation looks the same as my original map. Go, play, have fun.

You can use Upgrade World[www.nexusmods.com] optionally too (including player base protection and what not[github.com]).

Map generation changed so that there would be more space for mistlands, but some people did continue with old maps and it worked fine. I'd recommend looking to the east or west to find larger areas.

If you haven't explored the whole map then new mistlands will generate where the placeholder mistlands were, hope this helps
