Moder after the latest upgrade
We are two persons trying to take down Moder. But after dying so many times that we literally have no skills left and have all our gear scattered all over, we simply cannot see a way to get her down.
One hit and you lose 180 HP, so whatever you eat, makes really no difference.
She does not despawn, so we luckily have our eggs intact (otherwise I would have dropped the game) but she does reset her health when we both die, making it impossible to get any attack in.
I can see on YT videos, that she was pretty easy to take down before the upgrade to the AI upgrade, but now we have fired over 400 obsidian arrows, and only got her to 50% and then she resets to 100%.
I simply cannot see how we can get her down. Building anything, including stone building will just break seconds when she is near by, as she deals 2000 dmg.
Also, the area she is in seem to grow, and she now show whenever we are near the mountain.
We are at a point where the game is impossible to play.
Does anyone have an idea? (and I WILL NOT CHEAT :-) )

We are all out of resources, and pretty much needs to start over. The game is over for us. I get that you are all A grade gamers with attitude,
Good for you
You're the one with attitude mate. You were told what you did wrong, had factually incorrect claims corrected, and given helpful information on how to change your approach in the future, and you come back with salt in this post. You obviously refuse to recognize the problem was with how you were approaching the situation, not due to any changes in the the boss. Good luck with that.

Dude, this game is easy, your surroundings are more dangerous than the actual enemies. We are not "A grade gamers" because we dodge a random direction every now and then. Question for you, what equipment are you guys wearing.

I haven't fought Moder yet and I am not an A grade gamer but I do have some advice for you and your friend.
Calm down. Take a deep breath. Think the problem through. It sounds like you now lack the weapons, armor, food, and meads necessary to fight Moder and are out of the resources necessary to craft these items.
I would think, however, that you still have a base with crafting stations. That makes starting the game over quite unnecessary. You should be able to gather the resources to craft what you need to get started.
Sounds like there is an area in the Mountain biome that has Moder present and is littered with corpses from previous attempts. I believe your best course of action is to concentrate on retrieving the gear from those corpses. Sneak in, loot a corpse, and run back out.
For that you need perhaps basic troll armor, a decent shield, a decent melee weapon, cooked meat and neck tails with some carrot soup, and a couple of frost resistance meads apiece. The armor and gear are not for fighting Moder but to deal with the odd wolf or other enemy you might encounter. If you don't have a camp with a portal close to the edge of the Mountain, find a location and build one. Split up before entering the Mountain and approach from different directions.
If Moder spots and pursues one of you, run for it. The other should be able to loot a corpse or two while Moder is in pursuit. Don't run directly back to the camp with the portal. Use the Eikthyr power. The idea is to get to a Black Forest or Meadows where you can easily lose Moder among the trees. Even if the fleeing Viking gets killed, Moder may be drawn far enough away from the last place he was encountered to make subsequent corpse looting runs Moder-less.
Note: I killed Bonemass in the Meadows. I wasn't getting anywhere with him in the Swamp so I drew him a hundred meters or so into a wooded part of the Meadows. I then ran out of his sight and circled back to my camp with portal to rest, repair my gear, and get more food and meads. Bonemass stayed pretty much where I left him in the Meadows. He was much easier to fight there than in a Swamp.

I am very far from A grade gamer and the fight was pretty straight forward. Just rebuild your gear, the map is huge you can get the resources from scratch all over again if you have to due to low supplies.
For the fight itself, you need at least one piece of wolf gear to negate cold as well as use cold potion. You should prioritise dodging to avoid the damage instead of prioritising dealing damage. IF you do get hit, hide until full and then reengage.
Make some soil walls near by or a dig a few trenches so hide in when healing.
take heal potions with you as well
I was able to beat it second try after i worked out the dragons attacks
Good Luck!

One hit, 180 damage?, from what exactly? Last time i fought her she dealt piss poor damage, what armor do you have, do you have anti freeze?, what weapons are you using. Also, use poison arrows, healing mead, stamina mead, try to block attacks, dodge or something, don't just stand there like you're mentally impaired.

If you are fighting Moder and are properly equipped you should have serpent stew, cooked lox meat and sausages. Fully upgraded Wolf / Silver gear.
First you should use Bonemass power to reduce damage taken. Since you are two people you can have one person do one and when that runs out <or about to> the other person can trigger it. This will give you 10 mins of damage reduction. Use frost potion on top of wolf gear, it may take some of the edge off the frost attacks.
Use poison arrows with drauger bow <upgraded> Moder is immune to the cold damage from frost arrows. Rush in when it lands and melee. Silver sword works well.
Dig around the Moder spawner. You can run around it an use it for cover.

You’ll want your armor back, if you can’t get your items back then take the time to make a new set. You’ll want a draugr fang bow max lvl and either fire or poison arrows. The poison dot on the draugr will stack with dot on both the poison and fire arrows( I used poison) Should be able to do it with less than 200 arrows each. Bring a backup bow, huntsman or finewood, or both. You’ll want med heal meads and stamina meads. You’ll also want the best food you can make. Try not to get hit.
* Edit : Also the eggs respawn, and you can usually find them on the mountain with the Moder alter.

I have no idea what to do, all the above seem to be on the previous patch.
When Moder is out of the area, you will have to aggro her, and when she is no way near the spawn point, you are in a tight mountain with no chance of luring her back to the spawn point, when she sees you, bam! 2000 HP, and with a heath of 180, you are dead. No matter what gear you are in and no matter what frost resistance you have.
If this means gathering 3 more eggs, the game is over for us.
If the latest patch is final, we will have to forefit... :-(
Devs... please?

I killed her after this latest update. It didn't seem any harder than the first time and I was wearing the exact same gear.
If you dive-roll (block+jump) you're invulnerable for the first part of the animation so you can completely avoid damage from the frost attack.

Moder is no different form before, nothing about her has changed. I just killed her again in the last week because I needed more Dragon Tears. The AI tweaks had abilities or damage.
Taking 180 damage from Moder means you weren't properly geared. The attacks have a 200 damage base, 20 off means you only had 20 points of Armor, meaning you weren't even in a set of upgraded Troll Armor. So you were 2 sets behind.
You should be in full upgraded wolf armor. Not that Moder should even ever hit you. When she is in the air you should be prioritizing dodging and stay the hell away form the ice she forms. When she is on the ground a simple pit between her and you and you can rain arrows freely.
You shouldn't be using obsidian arrows unless you run completely out of poison and fire arrows, and you should be using the Draugr Fang bow for added poison on top.
You should of also stopped and geared up better after dying a couple times instead of doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
That's Valheim, you get punished for not learning from your mistakes. Now you've dug yourself in a massive hole by losing your stats. Fully gear up this time, bring pleny of potions and play safe.

As was said upthread, you can dig around her altar. I was able to install a portal and a workbench there in a position where it was almost impossible for her to hit them. I did her solo and she went down so fast that I felt it was a bit sad; a dragon deserves more. I wish you could subdue her and use her as a mount.
