Mountains
No matter what I do, I die every time i try to explore the mountains. I get raided by wolves or stuck in a crack..etc. etc. Guess I'm done now. Can I get half my dough back since I can only play 1/2 the game?

Couple things that no one has mentioned. Silver veins are only found above the obsidian line on the mountains so don't waste your time looking for it in the foothills. Mine the obsidian, it makes better arrows than what you're using if you haven't been into a different biome yet. Golems spawn near abandoned houses OR silver deposits. If you didn't find a house where a golem spawned use the wish bone to find the silver vein. Look in the chests in the buildings that's the only place you will find onion seeds.
If your wish bone keeps beeping once you've mined out a silver deposit change position again and keep digging. Silver veins often come in twos or threes.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2856429325
Sometimes the wish bone will only find a buried skeleton but that skeleton usually has a silver necklace.

You can get lucky and see silver veins sticking out of the mountains. It's not very common but I have found several that way. It's possible but maybe time consuming to find silver this way, but it can be done without the other tools. Honestly bonemass is pretty easy to beat with poison resist potions, might as well take him out

Yes there is but using the wishbone is far easier and way less time consuming. As @kingboo said
What you can do is not use the wishbone and bring the Stagbreaker and hit the ground and when it says "Too Hard" means there is silver under that then mine down and boom silver node.
So if you don't wanne use the wishbone use that instead :D
You can also use the Iron Sledge if you made one. Honestly though use the wishbone.

It's really not hard at all to find silver with the stagbreaker. Silver only spawns high up, and only in relatively flat areas. It usually only takes a few minutes to find silver by pounding the ground. It's also more accurate than the wishbone.
The one thing you need to be aware of is that obsidian gives the same response, but you can normally tell if it's coming from the obsidian by watching where the text appears. If it's close to the obsidian, than that's likely the cause. If it's close to where you hit, you probably found silver.

I had heard that frostner was the wepon to have against Bonemass and i wanted it.
So i spent a lot of time in the mountins and was fully silver upgraded when i met Bonemass.
You probebly need to get higher than you think and you reeely need to think of safety ALL the time. But its doable and i kind of still like the biom.

Listen. All of the enemies have there own distinct sound that will warn you when they are about. The golem is pretty hard to identify but they are easy to run from, probably the best option. You can also dig a pit and tow or trick them, the golems, into it at which point they become more or less harmless and will block any other golems from spawning in the area and offer a modest distraction for wolves and drakes. This is good for mining.
Good luck

Be careful in the mountains at night. During the day you'll find wolves in small groups, but at night you'll risk encountering much larger groups of wolves along with 1 and 2 star versions. When you're just setting foot in the mountains for the first time, a 2 star wolf is death incarnate.
As jonnin mention above, frost resist potions help a lot as well. They greatly reduce damage from flying drakes (bring your bow) and if you don't have a piece of gear that provides passive frost resist, it's literally required to survive.
Best of luck and I hope you find tons of silver!

Go home at night, go home at night, did I mention going home at night?
Consider making a tour around the entire perimeter of your mountain or range. Find and set up shelters to escape to every evening. That just means putting a door on a skele ruin or kill the locals at a tower. You can stuff a workbench and portal in them. Mark on Map! Look for areas of easy access and listen for howling. Your first intention is to get a cape so need those wolfie hides and trophy. Quaff your potion and head up there. Have lots of arrows, turn up your sound and enjoy.
Wolves announce themselves. Go in sneak and ck for them. One shot from distance. If your first shot doesn't kill then as they approach greet them with your club. Done. They usually come in twos and many times respawn in same area.
Be wary of cabins. Golems tend to live next to them. Mark golem spawns as they are consistent. Keep frost potions up at all times till you have your cape - or die almost instantly. Yes you can light fires but what happens when you run out of wood? Or a golem punts your unworthy patootie away from the fire??? Carry stam and health potions at all times. Use them as needed. Take some time to learn how steep a hill you can run down. It's amazing how well you can run down impossibly steep slopes. Learn what size rocks golems and wolves can't get up. Better to figure it out ahead of time rather than die cuz you forgot to pay attention. Use your pick or hoe for self arrests and also to make trails up steep slopes. Look for chests. They have something you want. Enjoy, you will only have the feeling of discovery one time in each biome, soon it will be just another day in the mountains, breaking rock in the not so hot sun.
Travel safe.

I don't suggest going up and down the mountain every evening. On a big mountain, that could be a large chunk of the day, and you could easily get stuck in a snow storm, which exacerbates the problem.
My preferred method for starting in the mountains is to spend the first day in the mountain scoping it out. If I find a stone tower, or even a wood building ruin, I quickly patch it up enough to make shelter and build a fire. At that point you have a safe base to work from.
After you patch up a base, you can drop a portal, and whatever you want to place there. You can use that to venture out and further explore, and also get the mats for a cape, which will make life easier and safer.
I like to carry up all the mats for a full processing station for the silver. If you refine most of it and make your items right there, it saves time and hassle IMO. Alternatively, you need to haul all the silver down the mountain and ship it to your base, which also delays the amount of time it takes to get the cape and other upgrades.

Bring the wishbone and wear it to find silver veins in the ground. Beware of wolf packs as they can tear you apart quite quickly. Bring a good blunt weapon to deal with golems.

mountains are pretty simple.
Use a frost potion until you can make an anti frost cape or chest piece.
find like 2, maybe 3 veins of silver using the bonemass item, and dig it up, you know the drill. Silver is found above average heights and where obsidian is plentiful.
along the way, pick up 2-3 nodes of obsidian rock.
if you can find a cave, loot it for crystal (optional) -- it makes 'glass' window panes for decoration. Maybe do not go very far into these right now, just grab crystal for now.
visit all the shacks and weird stair-down-ruin things until you find a chest with onion seeds in it.
The boss summon item is exceptionally heavy and cannot be portaled. They are plentiful, usually, esp near the boss, so its rarely a problem.
everything else will take care of itself.
You can usually finish the biome very quickly if you can find silver.

Yeah, that's exactly what my buddy and I have done. We were fully clad in silver gear, some of it upgraded even, with maximum comfort in our base from roaming in the plains. By the time we decided to kill bonemass, it was as casual an event as it would be to go kill Eikthyr again. Jump drank a poison resist potion each, filled up on the many stacks of our best foods and just power attacked him over and over with our Frostner hammers until dead. No dodging attacks, no worry about poison. Hell, we summoned him a few times just to have extra wishbones to keep in various bases for convenience. Pro tip for next time.
Explore the mountains before you kill Bonemass and you won't have to worry about the wolf event.
You can farm up onions, collect frost glands and make frost arrows, collect pelts for comfort items and save the rest for when you get some silver.
By the time you are ready gear wise for current boss you should be at a level you are fine starting in the next biome... why not scout first?
You don't technically have to kill all bosses to progress. You kinda have to take out The Elder for Iron and Moder for the artisan table, but there's ways around the other two. For bonemass at least, it can be very beneficial to just ignore him for awhile.

Well personally, I went up to the mountains and broke the wolves to myself, and now the wolves work for me.
First wolf I tamed was one star wolf. I kept it safe in one of my mountain outposts, away from harm somewhat, until I could find it a mate at least.
They will follow me when commanded.
They protect the outer perimeter of my many houses & strongholds.
They kill the local wildlife and self sustain themselves.
They repopulate at an alarming rate, I usually have to go out every few days & cull their numbers down a bit, just to help with how laggy it gets.
They truly are great allies, and loyal ones at that.
When I first went at night time, to the mountains, when you generally find more of them, and tougher wolves at that. I waited endlessly night after night for many nights on end until I found what I was looking for. A two star wolf. I fired a single wood arrow near it, enough to draw its attention and aggro.
And the pursuit began. He ran, fast as he could at me, I ran like hell, and after a few close calls I was able to dodge and evade some of his lunges, with sword & shield equipped but slung, I ran to the pit I dug during the day, I lured that wolf straight to it. This is it, I began thinking to myself, he is so close, I just have to start taming him.
So there I was, large pit, full with raw neck tails and boar meat.
The wolf ran to the edge of the pit, and I quickly as I could let it strike me one time, as I positioned myself to set myself up for a block parry. The parry was successful as I watched the wolf stagger in a momentary daze, with enough time to allow me to push him as I simply held my shield up, and then proceeded to push him into the pit with shield drawn.
I had him. I had my 2 star wolf, captured, in a pit with fresh raw meat from the day prior hunting but he was wild and angry, it took a moment to let him settle down back to a calm state. I was not going to budge or leave until this wolf was tame, I told myself, be patient.
And I watched that 2 star wolf like the one remaining eye of Odin. And patiently waited like a roaming hawk.
He started eating, finally, not long before the sun had started to come up, and the night was fading to day. And I waited. he was still eating. I waited some more. It felt like forever, really. I stayed up in a little sheltered platform I had built the day before, with a fire for an easy rested bonus, And a deer rug for extra comfort, as well as a good helping of food, and my harpoon on hand, ready for the moment this wolf would tame I would retrieve him out from the tame pit.
And then the ''animal has been tamed'' jingle sound echoed across my ears. It was bliss. I was truly blessed by Freya at that moment. The gods were smiling that day I am sure of it.
I harpooned my wolf out of his pit, carefully setting him to follow, equally nervous & excited at the same time, I led him to his mate that I had captured earlier, quarantined off from the rest of the mountain, hidden away in safety. I pulled him up hill with the harpoon, and he was at the outpost, he was there.
I led him into the outpost to familiarize him with his new mate. Set them to stay, I threw the pair some remaining neck tails & boar meat. These two wolves would go on to then provide me with an army of wolves so great they have taken over 3 very large biomes in total.
I can freely walk anywhere I please at night in some of the wildest enemy ridden biomes at times without even a scratch, because I released the tame wolves I have into the wild. Just like that, no pens, no pits, no cages, just let them go wild. And they did.
Now, op. Still want a refund?
Because you now know how to break wolves and make them work for you.

You need high tier food like sausages, cloud berry and fish rolls. Also first kill bonemass to get wish bone and defense buff. Wolves are hard as a solo player but with friends and archery from a distance helps

Bonemass power is important for mountains and plains (I always pop it for wolf packs, more than 1 fuling, or stone golems). Carry stamina pots and use them. Craft Frostner ASAP, the stun is ridiculously good.

You should be using Iron Armor & Weapons (since IDK) - and since you're getting the wolf raids, you seem to have done bonemass already. When in the mountains, try to keep the frost buff up and always use the best possible food (meat from a sea serpent can help a lot). As for safety/portals there: There should be some large, steep rocks around. Look out for those, build a small shack with stake walls & a roof up there as high as possible with some ladders/stairs down. Just always leave 1-2m of the stairs out so you will need to jump up there, which mobs cannot do. With that setup you should be fine for getting started there. Just always be cautious and possibly don't run around during snow storms /at night. You can build more of those rock-safe-spots all over the mountain so you can quickly get onto one when you get another wolf raid.

Have you killed Bonemass already? You need to be properly prepared to survive the mountains, actually any biome. Mountains are harsh if you don't know what you're dealing with. I recommend using the secondary attack of the iron atgeir against wolves, because it can stagger them and then they're easy to kill. Drakes are no problem, as you can just pick them off with even a finewood bow and flint arrows. Needs 3-4 arrows. Once you get obsidian it's much quicker.
Don't give up. Try again. You learn something every time you die.
Oh yeah, stay away from golems for right now.

The mountains is literally the easiest place if you don't mind a little cheese. It can be brutal if you try to go head first and brute force through it, though.
as long as you are wearing frost resist (or a potion, but try to get past that asap), the drakes don't do much and drop with a bow shot or two. Everything else will glitch on the terrain, just run up a near vertical wall and whack one time with the pick, and you have a little ledge you can stand on and kill everything with no risk. This is also how to climb without trying to circle around via some path, just straight line where you want to be with a little pick work.
wolves in melee are a risk if using a slow weapon. Swords are great as the fast speed counters the wolf's speed and you can beat them with a block until attacked then swing approach that you should know well by now. golems are a bit of a pain but they kill everything else, so you can drag a wolf pack by them for some 'help'.
If you get stuck in a crack, a hoe or pick hit or two should fix it. the only unescapable cracks are player made, are you digging holes?!
Mountains are also the shortest area. 2 veins of silver makes your armor and homestead stuff. A third upgrades it. And you are pretty much done. 2 at once is fairly common when you search it out too. About 20% of your stay will be finding and hauling silver, 30% exploring, and the rest hauling moder eggs around and trying to deal with the boss. Hauling the ore is sweet as well, you portal up, but slide down like buzz lightyear flying (falling, with style).

Mountain is the 4th tier biome. You should already have explored the swamps and obtained Iron gear before heading up there. Killing Bonemass isn't required. You definitely want your best foods active too.
Wolves hit hard and fast. Block or dodge, though you're best off getting them from range while they're unaware.
Stay out when its dark when you're first exploring, any star wolf is likely going to rip you apart. You'll also want Stamina meads and the eikthyr buff. You'll be running and jumping a lot on the slopes and stamina can be a major worry.

What kind of prep did you do before you went into the mountains? Are you in iron armor, for instance? What kind of food are you eating? Do you have frost resist potions?
