I have been wanting to build a mountain base and my friend wanted a stobe castle with an underground dungeon thing, is such a feat doable, if you dug a whole from the button and mive forward everything got destroy from buttom to above the soil...

Dig under, your rooms. Then build over them so you have your castle.

This! I spent a good bit of time in the Mountains on my last playthru to find a nice cluster of boulders. I found 7 at the top of a gently sloping hill (steep slopes suck for tunneling btw) and was able to create a 'ring' type dungeon with my tower/base in the middle where the rocks met up. It was a great base, just wish I could actually torture greys and fulings in there :)

Best is to dig town as far as you can next to the 'lowest rock and then did under it. Just be careful as you approach the walls on the sides or backside of the boulder as you can pickaxe a big chunk and now you have a skylight in your dungeon. Haha, good luck!

The only thing I can think of about Valheim I would love to see is the developers porting it either to an Engine that would support advanced building/digging/map manipulation, or simply to write their own Engine to support it.

Could you imagine the awesome things you could do if, say, you could make a literal CAVE HOME that also utilized a stream above ground?

A base can be built under the altar of the Elder. It can be built deep enough for 2 stories and offers protection from mob events. On my seed map it is between the Swamp and Mountain biomes, very close to both.

I will build stone walls and an iron gate around the portal to protect it.

After digging under, before building any permanent structures.

I wished i could tunnel through a mountain. But extemely unlikely to happen.... CPU/GPU killer i guess....

The only way it could be done without a total rewrite of the game would be to allow players to create 'cave' portals into a small single room 'dungeon' which could then be expanded by the player using an interface to a version of the dev tools used for creating the caves (ok not quite that simple but that's the gist).

Problems abound - the tools would likely have to be (re)coded from scratch, an entirely new UI and build system would need to be created, and at the end of the day player's would complain about the various differences and limitations from the present system (not to mention comparisons with other games).

It would require as much work, if not more, than a half dozen new biomes. All for something comparatively few players would likely use.

cool idea, Imma go and try this one thanks

Valheim's map is a 2D surface with 3D displacement values at each grid point (aka a heightmap). So digging underground is impossible.

With creative digging and structure support you could pull something off I reckon

the closest you can get to that in vanilla is to find the largest cluster of boulders ever and dig underneath. this is a bit tricky and sometimes not possible if the land wont let you dig deep enough. BUT... if you can find a huge boulder in the side of a hill then you got a shot. I went out a few times specifically looking for a place to do this and so far no luck. got close once but the space was just too small AND there was a troll spawn close by enough to be problematic.
Iv'e been in silver pits in the mountains that went into boulders that can be made into small camp sites but never big enough to do what you're talking about.
In the future i'd like to see them add the ability to raise terrain over stone walls and floors. that would make it possible to truly build and live underground

yea need more terrain depth/height(might be a mod?) .sucks when you have a nice build going then find out you cant raise land or lower it anymore.

Caves are not possible per the developers and most likely will not make it into the game. As Delle wrote, you can dig a big hole and cover it with stone floor to sort of create a dungeon.

Set the castle up so its side sticks into boulder floor level and tunnel down and out under the boulder.

The boulder should support the castle wall just fine if you don't remove the intersecting parts and dig under and into it making a cave.

im no expert, but i belive that its not possible to build tunnels or underground bases.

But what you can do is example dig a hole, and then you can setup some walls in the hole and cover it with example a stone floor.. You will need supporting beams or walls below the floor so it dosent collapse.
