The house part I get, not the items though. How did you lose your items?

An unfortunate risk when playing unfinished games. I'd suggest filing a bug report, with as much info as possible so hopefully the devs can look in to it and fix the problem. It's understandable if you don't want to play anymore, but maybe put it aside and come back later when it's more complete. i just lost all my house and items, so many hours i had put in. I started playing Valheim on a three-year-old laptop that had a graphics adapter just barely able to handle Valheim. As I progressed through the game my FPS rate got worse so I bought a new laptop with a graphics adapter equal to the one recommended on the Steam Store page for Valheim.
Fired up the new laptop, logged on to Steam, installed Valheim on the new laptop and picked up where I left off in the game. The old laptop was turned off and disconnected from the internet at the time.
So my Valheim data was backed up to the Steam Cloud ready to be downloaded to a new PC. I believe this is its default setting. I normally don't give a thought to where a Steam game stores its data. And Steam uses such portability as a selling point.
Check with Steam to find out exactly how you can ensure you are connected to your last data backup to the Steam Cloud.

I have yet to lose anything and need it, but any game where there is only ONE savegame file ... demands a backup script to be set up and run at least daily.

More specifics would be helpful, did your house just vanish? Did u build a bed somewhere else and claim it, losing the bed marker on the map from your house and forgot where it was? Was it attacked by trolls and demolished? Not to say it couldn't have been a bug, but i've never lost a base from just vanishing. Map pin mods help, also playing a custom pin on the map where your bases are prevents you from just losing where they are.

There apparently is a bug that can make that happen. But that's the thing - it's early access. Perhaps better to play it when it's finished? I mean, it's great fun now, but it'll probably be better then.

It sucks you lost your house and items. It has happened to me before. But restarting a new game honestly isn't that horrible. I've beaten the game ( the content available ), and have several worlds to play on.
Just start fresh and try again. Do something different to re engage yourself. Re-build your home and enjoy. It being an EA this could and can happen.
