How is modding on this game

Is it a situation where every new patch makes existing mods redundant, or is it a non-issue ?

Coming from Skyrim, I love modding games for the hell of it.

Modding is fine. Some mods do break upon major patches, but most dont. It does happen than a patch borks the install of the mods so you have to uninstall then reinstall them to get them to work again. Equipment and Quickslots, and Mass Farming are the two that I know of that are most likely to actually break when a patch comes, but they get updated pretty quickly.

Note that I do NOT have any texture mods or ones that add magic etc, so i cant comment on those.

i have only about 2 months experience using mods via Thunderstore mod manager.. it has a start option with /without mods..so far works flawlessy so. fwiw mods are fine , just run vanilla till its update, if not updated disable that mod.. I use it for adding staorage "bling" for a hitorical build im working on. quite seperate from my vanilla "actual " game

Try do one simple trick. Worked for me in other games in pc.
Do the full copy of a game. Put it anywhere you want (dont put in steam lib directory).
So. Then just mod the COPIED game. Run it, from its copied exe.
This trick force steam to see, what game are you playing, bcoz its legal-buyed one )
BUT all patches and updates will hit that one that non-modified, in steam lib folder.

Now that I think of it, for the longest time I simply turned off all automatic updates from Steam for Skyrim. Essentially accomplished the same thing.

Mod breaking patches don't come along very often, we just got unlucky with the recent one. Mods usually only break when you're messing with game mechanics, and most of the patches we've had have been about adding things to the world.

Fortunately, there's an easy way to roll back until the dust settles.

The big mod that hasn't caught up is Valheim Plus, which has a lot of settings rolled into one. The most recent rumor I heard was that the team is still working on it, but the main guy who uploaded it disappeared. Just rumor though, I'm not on whichever discord that came out of, so I can't confirm. I'm still waiting for the lefty mouse fix to go live before I update.

Disappeared ?? Sounds ominous.

I think I know the one you mean...... it was a mod that improved the graphics right ? The author said 'bye'. It happens, unfortunately. Seeing as this game is still technically in 'beta', I'd be leery about relying on any mod other than one that just improves graphical meshes.

You can try this texture pack, way better :)

Modding is modding. When an update happens, the majority of mods break.
