Should I wait for full release to invest myself in the game?
I bought the game a couple months ago and ever since yesterday I really want to get into it. The only problem that I have is i'm not too sure if I should wait for full release in case they add some major improvements or changes. I heard somewhere (don't remember where) that we're close to release even tho there's no date. Any thoughts?!

OP already OWNS the game so this is imho the BEST Advice
the game will populate unexplored areas with new content based on biome..
What you can do is build and define your character (separate characters and worlds fully interchangeable) and spend time hack slash n die or ,build bases, or MP it or just explore sail and when the biomes listed above appear on minimap just skirt them... One big caveat i might add is "If you decide to stay with one world only..perhaps dont fully explore all oceans just in case devs add surprises in future (i have nothing to base this on.. but ...) "
You can start playing and avoid the biomes that have yet to have content in it, examples are the Mistlands, DeepNorth and Ashlands.

A Valheim Saga
I'm a retired programmer. Having just bought this gaming rig for my umptieth birthday, I decided I should create space for all the great games I would buy. (There was a fire sale on SSDs and Steam was going berserk)
Modern budget gaming laptops are a pain to upgrade. There are no access panels. You have to crack the entire machine open like a cell phone. Using every size and variety of screw seems to be a design goal. Brain surgeons don't need so many instruments, nor such steely nerves, as you need to work on a budget gamer.
I forgot to use a towel. I lost three screws, but that was OK: I found four. The next day—the next day, after contemplating the Ponderosa of new space that I would soon fill with great games, I got Valheim.
One gigabyte. One lousy gigabyte. The worlds are procedurally generated, so Valheim doesn't need a lot of drive space for a pre-built world.
One gigabyte, twenty bucks, and 2,500 hours of riveting play while my other games languish: Skyrim, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Civilization VI, Cyberpunk, No Man's Sky, GTA, Dirt Rally, DOOM.
I look forward to playing them all. Just as soon as I've had my fill of Valheim.
Some people say the devs will just take the money and run, because that's what they would do. But if the devs were going to do that, they'd be gone already. There's no reason for them to hang around. What they have actually done is put the money in the bank to sustain long term development.
If the devs abandoned Valheim tomorrow, it would still be worth every penny. If they don't, if they finish it, it won't sell for $20.00. More like $60.00. And those who buy at that price will miss the fun of watching it grow.

Wait. The game doesn't have a ton of content, is unfinished, and will be better enjoyed in 2042 when it's completed.

It depends.
If you're fine playing an unpolished game for a low price then yes it's worth it.
If you prefer your games to complete and clean though... You could wait but it's not guaranteed that any of these things will change.
You will run into things that feel unfinished or not well designed like the UI or the trader, things that are a little weird like your weapon hitboxes or just empty space on parts of the map.
It's just a question of how you value your experience, you'll get your money's worth - for good or for bad.

The game takes a few days to finish so there isn't a huge time investment if you need to restart for new content. Of course if you are more interested in building fancy bases then you might want to wait.

I second this. Why wait to enjoy something when you don't have to. It's like passing on swimming when its 90 out and then going in when it's 70. Both work but the former is more enjoyable. I recommend getting it now, it awesome.

Developers all work at different speeds, its not just the size of the team that matters. I understand they want to remain a small studio, but come on. Taking them a full year to release 1 biome? This game will never be finished at that rate.
For example take the developers from Deep Rock Galactic from Ghostship games. They are only a 4 man team and pump out a lot of content.
Stardew valley is a game by ConcernedApe a 1 person team that does the art, coding and even music.
But not all development teams are like that ofcourse, and depending on how much needs to be reworked, and concepts that get scrapped. It can take a long time for something to get released.
I have to say that the developers of Valheim are some of the slowest i have seen, development wise.
I would say, just start playing. There is a lot of content already in the game to enjoy and most of the game mechanics are there already. Should i wait for full release
Even the developers dont know when the game will be released, so its better to just play and enjoy what is there already.
If you get tired of the game, you can always revisit it after 5-10 years.

Just get it. Enjoy it for what it is. Once you achieve everything you want to do, you can come back to it later on full release. But it's fun now, so play it now.

It's a pretty complete gaming experience as is. Kill the bosses and there's a sense of completion. After that, wait 'till 1.0 and you'll probably see double the content for the next playthrough. It's a fantastic jam

I got this game nine days after it was first released and have been avidly playing and enjoying the heck out of it for over a year and a half now. I have seen a number of updates since and I can tell you that updates change and add things but don't necessarily make the game more fun. It's a great game as it is and I don't much care when or if the next update arrives.
I get tired of all these clowns avidly awaiting the "eminent" release of the Mistlands for the past six months and their constant pissing and moaning about it. It's non-stop, "♥♥♥♥♥, ♥♥♥♥♥, ♥♥♥♥♥!" and I'm sick of the talk of it. I tell them, "If you think it's so easy, why don't you go write your own game and show them how it's done?" [/rant]
So anyway, there is no reason I can see for waiting until the game is finished. As others have pointed out, that could be a very, very long wait when you could be having a lot of fun with it now.

I do agree with the general message of this comment with 2 caveats:
I assume you meant "imminent" instead of "eminent", but just in case in wasn't a misspelling: there is close to 0 chances that the update will live up to the expectations.
As for the "if you don't like it why don't you do better?!" argument, this is really a silly one. Now nobody can't criticize or have an opinion on things if they can't do better. I hope tou never said that a movie/book/song/painting/etc was bad without first making a better one.

You're right. I used the wrong word. I even had to ask Alexa how to spell it. I really don't think anyone will revere the Mistlands update that much. I do agree with the general message of this comment with 2 caveats:
I also concede that your second point is also valid, but less so. These ninnies obviously have no clue as to how complicated and interconnected a game program can be and just how their ignorance shines through when they complain that this update should easily be done on a lazy afternoon.

We're probably nowhere close to release. Unless (and honestly there is a non zero chance that it happens) after releasing mistlands the devs say "well, that's it. We're done with this game, f-u guys and thanks for the cash".
In any case, the full release, if it was close to the original roadmap in terms of content, is probably many years away.

The issue isn't the content. They didn't have that much on the roadmap. It's the glacial pace of development.
