Final Release Date

I'm sure this has already been communicated some where but has the Dev said on when they plan to take this out of Early Access?

2. Do not make specific promises about future events. For example, there is no way you can know exactly when the game will be finished, that the game will be finished, or that planned future additions will definitely happen. Do not ask your customers to bet on the future of your game. Customers should be buying your game based on its current state, not on promises of a future that may or may not be realized.

We won't know when 1.0 is coming until its coming. That being said they still have 2 land biomes to complete before that, and if they keep up with their plans with the ocean, that as well. Minimum 6 months per biome.

The earliest reasonable estimate would be 2 more years of development. Which is on par with the average of about 5 years total dev time for a game. Reasonably it'll probably be 3, since they're pretty through with bug fixing.

I personally might agree on the optimization, there are some lag issues related to what seems to be a clutter cleanup code and some other relatively minor glips. The polish though I have to disagree on, this is one of the most polished early access games I have ever played, and early access is one of my favorite categories to play. Now that is in consideration that it IS early access, so i'm not saying there isn't still room to improve but it's already "above the bar" compared to most other titles. I might not always agree with the dev's mechanics but those mechanics at least work as intended the vast majority of the time (flying fish is hilarious though, and a pretty clear example of something that could use improvement).

Idk what ppl rsmoking nowadays. I get corrected for correcting some other dude that basically says "game is ready to be called v1.0 as of now". Just read the previous posts, pls.
Feels like there are marketing bots that react to some basic wording,

He didn't say it was ready to be called done, he said they could call it done at any time (which is true, i got tons of early access games that are technically "finished" but never hit anywhere near their original roadmap or planned development, they CAN call it done long before it actually is) but that even if it happened, the game as is is still quite good. He never said that was going to be the outcome, just pointed out it's possible and that us in the community wouldn't know it if that was the plan.

Yeah i have a continuing world from pre Mountain Caves .. andcomparing the original world map to my "updated" world map some mountains that i had expolred didnt spawn caves but still spawn othe height based things.. but no Dragon eggs etc... so from my experience and how im now playing is staying wellaway from unreleased biomes... i just skirt them by sea... safer that way

There are two, maybe three more biomes, probably a couple years to finish it up. No one knows the future though. They could call it good tomorrow or never finish. But the game now is quite good.

That part I admittedly can't say for sure but chances are it will go how most the updates do. New features/items can often spawn in old worlds IF, and only if, there is actually room for them to do so. So for example, the most recent major addition was an entire biome known as the mistlands. There was a placeholder for that biome before it actually existed and you could find those placeholders in your old worlds. However, if you did, then the areas you explored were already generated as the old placeholder terrain and already generated features wont change/update in most cases (we did get a new standing stone at spawn for the new boss, so some exceptions apply). That meant that some were just fine playing the new content on old maps because they never got that far (or at least still had SOME exploration left to do so they could actually generate the new stuff), while others had to start new maps to check out the new content instead. Likewise we are still waiting on the additions of the Ashlands and Deep North biomes (extreme north and south of the map respectively so not hard to avoid) and the same logic will likely apply to both.

Good news is that often times even if you do need a new map you can at least use your old character (who will keep whatever they have on them no less) on the new map to somewhat jump start yourself past the points you already played. Though, when it comes to full release and stuff like them also wanting to rework ocean before the game's officially done, there is still the possibility of having to restart eventually.

This was this in the dev blog the other day
"If you’re concerned about the Ashlands taking a long time to develop, you can rest assured that we have some fun things planned for you between then and now." they have quite a few details to get through still if you read it closely so i doubt they will change much from "when its done" it is a labour of great love imho !!
