Is Singleplayer Fun?
Haven't played this game in almost a year. Had a blast online with friends. Was wondering if singleplayer is fun? Or is it just too much grinding?
Also is there anything new since last January? Cheers

Only a new food system , new things to build and some new monsters , a new set from swamps
Is that really all the new stuff?

To summarize - Lots of bugs squashed early on, re-balancing of foods, stamina, and combat. New materials, new structure pieces, new foods, new armors, new enemies, new crops, saddle for lox, new crafting stations. All balanced (preliminary). New dungeons in mountains very soon. New biome in the works, due out sometime in the first half of 2022.

Having nearly completed the game in 2 player co-op (fully upgraded padded armour, just not bothered to beat the last boss), I'm really enjoying the solo play.
I can build exactly what I want, where I want and don't have to share materials (so finding it much quicker to upgrade my gear than the first time around). I'd definitely recommend!

I play single player, no mods. I've played all the way through once and now I'm doing it again for Hearth and Home. It's very challenging and unforgiving of mistakes.
Grindy depends on your point of view, I don't mind all the farming though. It's kind of the point of these kinds of games. The game gives you all the tools you need to move mountains of ore around but you have to think ahead and plan out what you're doing.
Personally this is the most fun game I've played in years, probably since Skyrim.

I play solo and love it - with mods - mainly to take down the grind on copper age.
('Cause of real life not fun things to do, like working or maintaining my household <sigh>

Look again blueeyes75, my son had this problem. The map marker tombstone was nowhere near his body actually was, I think because it was a hilly region, and the large map must have a problem with contours and unlevel ground. Go to the map marker tombstone, and do ever widening spiral circles. i think someone came to my world and took my stuff off of my dead body tombstone cuz i was just playing and its not there anymore so i have to get everything i had again

I concur Tevirik, I love playing solo, but then again I have never complained about the grind in any game I have played. I play solo and love it - with mods - mainly to take down the grind on copper age.

I also downloaded Valheim Plus, but just activated QoL modifications. Last week I did activate the open portal feature. I have enough materials to make smelters in all of my major outposts, but rather than do this I just made it so I can take ore through portals.

Personally i found solo to be a massive grind. Finding the Merchant and bosses takes longer since you are the only one looking for them. Getting the metals for gear and craftign upgrades takes longer since again, your the only one who can get it and carry it out of where ever it is. And then there is the complete PITA if you get killed far from your current respawn point, and trying to do a solo corpse run/gear retrival is a true experience of frustration. (Tip: get a second strength belt from the merchant asap, so you can do dash and grabs on your marker without getting stopped because you can't carry everything without a belt equiped)
But, doing everything your self is very satisfying in the end, becasue you did it yourself, and you weren't following in someone elses footsteps along the way. So its worth trying it solo at least once.
A final tip, make lots of small bases with portals at stratigic spots when possible and try to keep the mats for a portal with you at all times so you can pop back to your main base and empty your inventory when needed.
Good luck.
