Minor annoyance - necks
So this is a relatively minor thing, but necks. The lizard things. They're one of the few enemies in the game that isn't guaranteed to drop something when you kill it, which given that the tails are pretty useful early game for mince meat sauce and poison resistance poisons, kind of makes sense: those are very useful in the early game, so you don't necessarily want it to be easy to make them.
BUT the thing is that since they only spawn in the meadows, it's not like hunting necks is hard or challenging. You can run around unarmed and naked and not be seriously threatened by the things that spawn in early meadows, especially at day.
Which means that gathering enough neck tails isn't a challenge, it's a chore, and a sometimes frustrating one when you could kill five of them but not get a single tail.
Just wondering if anyone else finds it annoying and if there's any plans to fix this in some way, like...
- Make them tame-able so you could farm a steady supply
- Increase the chance of them dropping a tail, or even just guarantee them dropping a tail.
- Make them spawn more frequently, in larger numbers, and/or in a wider variety of biomes (the dark forest and the swamp, for example).
- Make them guaranteed to drop something else ("neck scales"), that, I dunno, can be used to craft a slingshot or something.
It's a minor thing, I thoroughly enjoy this game otherwise.

I have stacks of Necktails. I'm hoping wolves will eat them. Otherwise, they are destined for the obliterator. (Whoever had that idea is brilliant!)
Make coal on the 5x cooker. Its actually faster than the kiln ... Ive started doing this a lot.

I don't see any problem with how Necks are now.
They seem to be the fastest respawning enemy in the game. I just built a base in a new game, that has 3 nearby Neck spawn areas, and almost every time I leave my base some if not all of them have respawned. It is actually a little annoying at how fast they spawn...

Find places with small rivers or ponds. Also I've seen that they'll also have a tendancy to spawn more in the open meadows near the coast more too.
I've also anecdotally seen them spawn in those areas more if there is a boar spawning stone too.
Lastly, rain storms. They'll spawn way way more in rain storms. In the earlier game when I needed their tails, if there was a rainstorm, I made for the places I knew they spawned most and the open meadows near a river/coast and easily could get 10-20 tails a storm, especially if it were a night one. Leave render distance and come back too for slightly faster spawning.

Lol funny that no one mention it
Necks spawn like rats when rains or storming in the meadows , best moment to farm them is that

And here I want to tame them just because they are cute little pests. I think a tiny inlet with some necks by a harbor would be nice.

Sometimes in life you need to do chores... like farming necks.
Making everything easier kind of takes away the challenge and exploration of game IMO.

Running them over with the karve is good training for your sailing skills.

After playing through the game over 20 times this is my observation on neck meat...
Before H&H and mince meat sauce I would end up with tons of extra neck meat that wouldn't end up being used on anything. Tossing them away, avoiding picking up, trying to avoid necks.
After H&H and new things added that used it.... so far I have enough just by collecting them passively. I don't have an over abundance of them, but that is fine. I have more than enough for poison resist and food and spare in case I die and need to make more from scratch. With a couple of stacks of poison resist made.
I don't really see an issue with them. It might be trickier on some seeds due to RNG but on average the numbers seem fine.

you might need 10 total neck tails for the entire game.
it takes a whopping ONE tail to make SIX potions, and you don't need the potions anymore because armor negates poison mostly, so you really only use them maybe on the one boss that has poisoning. Even back before the armor change, 2 or 3 sets of potions were enough to do the whole swamp (the poison biome) . So 3 maybe 4 tops for potions and another 5 or so to eat before you discover deer, boar, and move on with your life. The minced meat isn't worth making, IMHO, but if you want to live off that its another 10 or 20 tails before you move on hopefully. If you have carrots, you really should have something better to eat.
That said, if you set up your home near a lizard pond, the spawns at night will kill them in bulk so you just need to walk out and pick up the tails now and then. I just burned 50 for coal and didn't kill a single one of those..
