made a rug comfort level mod
the new behaviour made the more expensive rugs pretty useless so this mod changes it back.
How to install it:
1. make sure that you have BepinEx installed, like almost all mods
2. download the mod from
https://github.com/luponix/Valheim-Mod-UndoRugComfortLevelChange/releases/download/v1.0/RestoreRugComfortLevel.dll
3. navigate into your valheim folder
4. go to Valheim\BepInEx\plugins and put the RestoreRugComfortLevel.dll there
If you encounter bugs let me know. the source code is available under https://github.com/luponix/Valheim-Mod-UndoRugComfortLevelChange/tree/v1.0
good luck have fun

I start to think that devs support mods secretly.
Well, their FAQ once stated "We won’t have official support for mods."[web.archive.org] but at some point it was changed into "We don’t have official support for mods."[www.valheimgame.com] so you might be on to something.
... use that spyware as a kill switch for the mod if people upload it somewhere instead of linking to it. They're not wrong about copyright, but it seems pretty extreme for free mods - especially since most free software is also freely disseminable and these people in particular usually have lazy or no licensing info.
I've also seen them block people they don't like, for asking "rude" questions in their discord or whatever. ... but they make nice mods ... They also need a better explanation for their key manager, and mod authors should actually spell out their rules for not getting banned - instead of leaving it as a nasty surprise for anyone caught out. ...
Oh, I know or agree with everything I quoted. Whenever I tried blocking ComfortTweaks from connecting to their spy-server (firewall/hosts) VH immediately crashed while starting (with an garbled nonsense error - stack trace only contained obfuscated function names as I recall).
But this isn't the right place to discuss any of that - know of a better place/thread where this is already discussed? (What happens when their spy-server goes down? All servers using any of their mods crash just like that? That would be terrible design!)

A new thread I guess, though I've already said most of what I have to say. I don't see anything specific in forum rules about threads drifting off topic... As for their servers I'm sure I've read about at least one glitch in the past, as well as accidentally improperly packaging the odd release so it doesn't work and crashes servers.

@luponix - Awesome thank you.
Previously I wanted to use another more complex "ComfortTweaks" mod[valheim.thunderstore.io] but unfortunately it contains low-grade spyware[key.sayless.eu] without any proper explanation why and the author has no interest in explaining/discussing anything[www.nexusmods.com].
Source code isn't available either and the code is obfuscated....

They (from what I've seen "they" mostly being modders connected to the Odin mod team) use that spyware as a kill switch for the mod if people upload it somewhere instead of linking to it. They're not wrong about copyright, but it seems pretty extreme for free mods - especially since most free software is also freely disseminable and these people in particular usually have lazy or no licensing info. @luponix - Awesome thank you.

I've also seen them block people they don't like, for asking "rude" questions in their discord or whatever. It's "I'm the king of the sandbox" level stuff, but they make nice mods - though several are based on/ripped from abandoned open source mods. They also need a better explanation for their key manager, and mod authors should actually spell out their rules for not getting banned - instead of leaving it as a nasty surprise for anyone caught out.
Hopefully a 1.0 release of Valheim will improve things. For now it seems we can have abandoned open source MIT licensed mods, or unknown licensed black box mods from people who can most generously be called paranoid.

I've now decided that I must leave vanilla behind and start modding so that my 1,110 hours of playtime is respected and not collectively changed arbitrary to fix a "bug" that was a feature until today.
Great job for providing this mod, thank you.
Agreed. For me it's more about seeing that "comfort: #" value increase, and less about the actual value that the comfort buff gives you. That value should do SOMETHING, however, the magnitude of what that value is is insignificant.
I don't care that 20 comfort gives me 20, 15, 10, 100 min of rested. I'm not motivated to increase my comfort because of the value of the increase of the buff duration. I'm motivated to increase the comfort value because it does SOMETHING and I'm motivated to max it given my current progress in the game.
I'm upset because of the nerf of rugs not stacking because, like you said, it invalidates my progress and efforts to get those rugs in my viking lodge.
