I dunno if it does anything either, but I also like the immersion of it. Why would your character rest standing up, they can use a real break from all the greylings running after them...

Just wait until you become adept at shield block/parry on trolls. Trolls are a cheap and efficient labour force for mining copper, especially when they show up with their own pickaxe handle ...

I didn't know that either, thanks! BTW, I played Skyrim for hundreds of hours before realizing that I could sprint...

Pressing "r" will unequip one's current weapon/s, which will help to run faster (less weight), and pressing "r" again will re-equip your weapons. I tend to use a shield 90% of the time, so this is really handy for me. It also helps a lot after swimming, as swimming automatically unequips one's weapons, so press "r" after leaving the water to re-equip the weapon/s you were using when you entered the water. This is also very handy when taming wild animals (boar, wolves, lox), as it is necessary to be crouching (left-ctrl) with no weapons equipped, when taming animals. Having ones weapons equipped near animals one is attempting to tame really agitates them.

Thankfully enough, I knew about equipping/unequipping weapons and also walk mode. And while I didn't experiment much with log pushing, I did get the tree-wielding trolls to fell some trees for me occasionally.

you can also toggle the tutorial bird with the slash command /tutorialtoggle

As there was talk about walking, another good tip is to sit down (press "X") when next to a normal fire (can be done nearly everywhere, except when it rains unless the fire is roofed) to get the minimum rest bonus.

I only realized after some 400 hours that you can toggle entire map marker types by right clicking on the symbol in the map legend.

you could have seen the option in your controll settings ?! ;D its nothing new...
and if you push, you can have portals much earlier, only need to push some tree logs against birch trees to get the finewood. you can have portals in under 5-6 hours easily.
