Any simple way to increase far object draw distance?

I'm annoyed by how close you have to get to even recognize which biome it is. Also pop in is just obnoxious. Any way to fix and tweak it?

Last I heard, 3000 series cards we self-destructing trying to run Valheim.

We are talking about pushing draw distance beyond what you can do with the normal settings, this was made quite clear, as that's what OP asked.

Some of the 3000 series cards were bad, regardless of game. This is typical of a first run of a new generation of cards.
My first RTX 3080 in February died within a week and I didn't even own Valheim at that time. First it crapped out a couple hours into Death Stranding, then faster, then any game that was demanding whatsoever it would die within minutes. Got it replaced (warranty) by mid March and no issues with the new one, including 300+ hours of Valheim with no bugs or crashes whatsoever.
Along with that a significant amount of people upgraded their card without also upgrading cooling and/or power supply to handle the much higher demands and unshockingly have had issues as well, again nothing to do with Valheim or any specific game.

Had the same issue earlier in the year. Thankful for that warranty. It was a fresh rig too. Now im running little issue; though im purposefully mindful of how much pull the LOD is generating+how many light/bloom sources are around as Nvidia has never really been too friendly toward those things. (Just out of caution at this point)

For the OP; I've noticed if the tessellation is off its not nearly as rough though it still has that pop in. Kinda meh there on a fix imo

if it helps any, looking UP often tells you the biome from a little farther out. Plains has the big rocks. Mountains are obvious. Jagged trees are swamps. meadows isnt important. Dark forest is smoother treetops. It does not solve the problem but it helps a little.

Well swamps are easy since they are flat. The real issue is between Meadows and Plains.

Basically I will keep my distance, ease in a bit to either get the biome change on the mini map or watch for structures. Basic houses and boars mean Meadows, bonfires and stone towers are Plains.

You can normally ID Black Forest from the trees when they pop in but terrain in general is more varied than meadows or plains.

It seems like the deathsquitoes don't agro on you unless you get too close.. as long as you watch your mini map you shouldn't normally run into problems.

Not a big fan of the pop in myself. Max distance set in options in game.

I have learned to live with it. I understand it is part of optimization.

In order to hide it they would have to go into a distance haze to basically cover everything up. That would be way worse. One of the great things is how grand the vistas look and having to ruin that to hide the pop in would be awful.

I saw the same thing in Warframe. When Fortuna came out it took forever to load in but the view distance was really awesome and clear. Now due to optimization it loads faster but the grand view is not great, loss of clarity in the air, distance haze really took away from it visually.

I think they have moved that way in this game. When they changed how the oceans looked and added a bit more distance haze. I just don't want them to go too far with it. My game actually ran smoother before they "optimized" it ha ha.

So dealing with some pop in isn't so bad in comparison.

Well, I'm obviously maxed within in-game settings, but it still sucks. I don't mind grass pop in and other detail, but not being able to recognize biome from few hundred meter (while exploring with boat) is obnoxious because it's not about aesthetics, but about not getting relevant information. Like dayum this game keeps just vague silhouette of a land almost till you bump in into shore instead of incremental LOD of detail based on distance (to avoid wrecking fps by loading too much detail from too far).

I'll try to play with lodbias command to see if it makes exploring easier.. I'm worried because my friend warned me as he literally got to close of final biome will only being geared 2nd biome - and some mobs wrecked him from afar and he lost all the gear (died again while recovering). All because you see what's what when it's too late...

lodbias via console should change it, I believe the default is 5.
However be aware, increasing it abover maximum normal settings will absolutely murder your performance as each increase dramatically increases the amount of chunks that need to be loaded. Anything less than the rtx 3000 series cards you won't be able to turn it up very high.
