selecting certain amounts of an item
I would be nice to be able to split stacks or simply take two or three items out of a stack. such as when you need to feed the pigs. It would also be nice to be able to tame other animals, perhaps necks. Or add goats, bears or some such.

You can split stacks. Hold shift when clicking the stack to bring up the option to split it. Hold ctrl when clicking to auto-transfer the entire stack.

Yeah, when you hold shift to split the stack it brings up a slider. By default it sits at roughly half the stack size but you can slide it either way to select exactly how many you'd like to take.You can split stacks.
