Why do we really need to increase wisplight range
Just one screenshot. Navigation in mistlands on a boat just nonexistent

dont drive the boat into the mist bauble then.
why would you drive your boat into a potential danger zone to begin with if you can see it from a mile away already`?
what are you gonna do with ashlands lava rivers? drive your boat into them and think youll come out fine or what?

Im always open to better lighting options. Though in my case it's partially because my game is already unreasonably dark before mistlands was ever a thing. Me, in mistlands, is functionally blind with a will-o-wisp obsession, "follow the light!". Even without mist, or even fog, my game just plain looks abyssal at night....like this:

(worth noting that the screenshot actually shows slightly more detail than i see while actually playing, at least i can tell where my sail ends in the darkness on this shot). With this already going on, mistlands is downright hopeless and adjusting my monitor just makes it head-ache inducing grey with no additional visibility.

with this logic you must ignore any mistlands-only-islands because you can't sail to them due to the mist. You have a mini-map. You can easily use that to navigate, but do you really want to be sailing in ML anyways? I've had too many close encounters with Gjall just sailing around the edges that I don't even think about sailing very far in the interior.

You could always get a helping hand hold fast on the bow of the ship and bring out their own wisp. Co-op benefits.

I have had more bottom outs and hull damage trying to go past a chunk of ML than all my other playtime combined. The mist obscures rocks, sandbars, everything until you are on top of it, and you either paddle and stare at the map or you punch through and stop to repair. It may be realistic, or intended, or whatever, but just trying to get to the poles (for fish/hat stuff) past ML was not fun, no matter how you slice it, and I say that as someone who usually enjoys a boat trip.

If it's an island, then the edge is not very far into the mist, so I'm either misunderstanding what you mean, or I don't think it would be the case.
That said, I don't ever plan on visiting all the mistlands islands in a world, so I can always sail a bit farther and find a region I can explore that I can land my boat at safely. Preferably I find a patch of black forest that abuts whatever biome I want to explore and land there.

On my world, with its old seed and biome generation, there are both fractured coasts and more terrestial regions of mistlands. But I've yet to find what I'd classify as a standalone island (with at least some relevant structures or objects like roots or towers) in the middle of ocean with no other biome than mistland present. Feel free to share if you've found any, would be interesting to see.

Yes! The impenetrable Mistland ring! In my last game it took me at least an in-game week to find a way through the ring to get to a Moder mountain that was on the far side. It took longer getting back across because I decided to take a "shortcut" and ended up circling half the world before I found a route through.
I didn't want to sail through the mist at the time because I had no idea what was in there yet. I also didn't have a light, of course.

Your search for swamp crypts on that must have been hell to, i see like 2 decently large swamps that arent immediately adjacent to horrible death, and only one of them is a bonemass swamp apparently (luckily there is one near spawn with a good amount of crypts at least). It's actually irritating me somehow that you have 2 bonemass altars immediately adjacent to mistlands lol. Your seed might just plain hate you on that one.

Yes, it sucks with boats. They might consider having the Wisp move to the head of the boat so you can see what is coming better.
Or let us make a new boat with a large mounted Wisplight that clears a large area. I mean, we've been in longboats since the damn Swamps. Time for a new, better boat I say.

Sailing over land generally doesn't exist, unless you have an airship.

mist covers water too. A lot of bays and canals in mistlands just scary to sail Sailing over land generally doesn't exist, unless you have an airship.
