i never get sick of my wolves howling.

i have two ways for you to tame wolves.

ONE

To tame a wolf you need to build a square fence (and make sure each side is completely enclosed) two layers of fence is good. build this prison with two doors. one door on one end, one door on another. open them both so they open into the square. make a wall all the way around your fence so that they don't ever see you this way they don't get mad and start to break your box. put raw meat on the ground inside your box and lure a wolf to you box. be sure to build the box near your base so you can have them follow you back to it if you want (i use my wolves as a garrison) lead one wolf at a time.
anyway, lead the wolf through one door and then hold up your shield so you can block his hit. after he attacks you you have a few milliseconds to close the door. block him, and run out the other door closing it as you go.
leave him to eat in peace and don't let him see you

TWO

build a fence box with two doors. leave raw meat on the ground, go get a wolf to chase you, lure him into the box, close a door, run out of the other, close it, get your hammer out and repair everything he breaks.
watch his senses of you so you can leave after he forgets about you. you might want to do this one away from any creatures because their mere presence will make him mad.

Yes it is possible.

Pro-tip : If you want them to breed have them follow you before you feed them , Slowly lead them along wait for them to eat, then slowly lead them again until you see the inevitable hearts pop out. this way you a guaranteed pups every time.

Also when they actually give birth there is a splash of blood.
which is gross
i've seen boars do it

Tamed boars are quiet until you pet one and even then it just lovingly grunts a little :) Only time I have found them to get noisy was during my early taming days and that was always down to having a lit torch too near to them (frightens them). Remove the torch and peaceful silence resumes :)

I'd like to know as well. I've tried but he kept attacking the fence. However there's the "(Wild, Frightened)" below his healthbar

Aye, it's a solid simulation of gradually becoming an Edgar Allan Poe character.
