Worst food?

Outside of it being one of the controversial changes in heart and homes, i wanna talk about the worst food that currently is for the new update. I think most foods are good but there are few foods that community might consider bad. I could talk good food but you know the obvious (lox Meat, Bread, serpentine stew,...)

I think the most obvious worst food is the elk stew which gives you same stats as regular cooked elk meat. Compare an early game food to this, its not worth it and it takes way too much time. Besides carrots and blue berries have better use than this.

Boar jerky is arguably another worst food item that i've heard and honestly i can agree especially in mid to late game (but not in black forest though) . Its easy to make since it requires boar meat and honey which are two of the easiest thing to get and compare to elk stew its just more worth getting. Its also jack of all trade food which is a decent options however it would be good, If other food options weren't good if not better. Hell by the time you get Wolf Meat, it already becomes replaced. It would be a really good meadow food if caludron didn't require tin which would be good against the first boss but its mostly never gonna happened. At least its decent.

Arguably the third and maybe the most questionable worst good is blood pudding. On one hand its sounds bad because it got changed in the new update and bread gives higher health and stamina but in the other hand its not nearly as bad as people made out to be since it has the second highest stamina in the game and doesn't waste nearly as much flour as bread does. Sure you get bread with the highest stamina and higher health compare to pudding and you could say 2 bloodbags and thristle is a waste but most of the times, its not exactly a waste to get since 20 flours gives you 5 pudding compare to 4 bread and both thristle and Bloodpudding kinda becomes handy since you already made 2 potions on 2 specific biomes and food that becomes kinda obsolete by the times you're in a plains biome. Its also worth mentioning that stamina is very important in this game so its not as bad.

So i talked about the 3 food that people think are the worst foods but are there more bad foods that i've misses?

I've got motivation to make this since i've watched one of the youtube video that talked about the worst valheim food in hah that it got me interested.

All low tier Meat is F tier food. You might think it's doing a lot but it's still 1 hp/tick, and literally any higher tier food is better because of that. Blocking is so risky anyway so might as well have extra Stamina to push out more movement and decision making.

Always consider how much HP you are gaining per tick, most people seem to forget this underrated stat.

Serpent Stew is good it has longer time though not the highest plus it's 80hp gain. So don't know why it's bad. I think it's A Tier then S Tier.

F Tier is most things use with thistle with a short time. Since thistle is used way too many times in cooking which is a unbalance with the dandelion being the one underused.

I think this thread proves everyone has different wants needs and as said by Anthony, resource pools fluctuate. Some things said I agree with and some would say the opposite. Keep your diet varied, I love mixing it up as much I can

Breads duration is 30m now , like lox pie and serpent stew , and only cost 5 flours each now

Yeah blood pudding are pretty a waste now having eyescream that its TOO easy to make and give almost the same stats

And yeah i think meadows top food its pretty high in stats , i cant bealive that there is people that have problems and dying there with deer meat+boar meat + honey ( 98 hp and 82 stamina )
Maybe is because facing a troll even with black forest top food is still a hard fight ( doing 70-90 damage ) with deer stew , meat stew and carrot soup ( 125 hp and 97 stamina )

Unless your facing a troll with 1 or 2 stars you can take then down with subpar meat as long as you've upgraded your shield and can parry.

I don't think there's a bad food. They can all have their uses.

I had a large pile of cooked deer meat. Deer stew gives me a way to have deer meat and deer meat in my belly in the early game. Raspberries and blueberries can be plentiful, so this also offers a way to boost remaining deer meat as you move on to all prepared dishes.

Boar jerky Is often what I eat when I'm just puttering around, to buff against dumb mistakes and get a touch of stamina. At 2 per meat+honey, it's super cheap. Plus is stacks to 20.

Sure, neither of these are a good choice when you have, and need, better options.

We're not just min-maxing final stats versus resource cost. There are more factors like actual needs, and managing the three-different stomach slots. Resource value is also not static -- it's in constant flux for a given player. Sure you can generalize, but when you prejudice things into "best" and "worst" you might miss out on the moment-to-moment best value judgements.

Good food is food you have
Bad food is food you doesnt have

Better food is the best food of the food you have

For example, If you have a nice base with a plains garden Bread is nice.
If not then not

bread is the only top tier stamina that does not require killing monsters to make. But it takes a LOT of farming to produce enough of it.

in terms of unfriendly to make I put eyescream down, the frost glands are few and far between when you start eating something every 20 min.
for similar reasons serpent stew gets a thumbs down, its a lot of trouble to locate and kill even one serpent, and the few units of food from that are going to be gone in a hurry.

but you can sum it all up with 'does this food take something that is hard to get in bulk' and if the answer is yes, you make something else and keep the few units of that food (if it is really good) aside for boss fights.

right now my everyday food is fish wrap, bread, and whatever 50+ health food I have on hand, sausages etc. In the plains I use a better health food in that slot. But just out in the world, its whatever is easiest to make. I find fishing easy and plentiful, but others may hate it. 4 mountains and counting and no onion yet.

Ok, thanks for the correction, I thought i was lower. Still, I'm not sure if bread is worth it. I tend to go for the bulk things like sausages, bacon is cheap, and some other things I can't remember right now. That's not the discussion here though - the worst food... I'm not sure. Whatever takes the most time and resources to produce which gives you the least time of buff.

bread is worth it because its the best stamina without having to kill lots of obscure monsters. I mean, I have like 3000 ooze, so I can make the shakes for a long, long while, but when its gone, ... you find like 4 oozes in a medium sized swamp.
