Think the Greydwarfs kill replay ability.

They're just never ending and annoying once you get leather armor.

The anti bow drunken sailor attacks and how obviously they just keep spawning out of nowhere, and spawning and spawning and spawning.

There really needs to be some sort of area cleared or settled mechanic to mitigate these things because for me the constant and attacks on noise multiple times a day just sucks any will to play this game out of me.

I would advise you to to use and abuse NPCs spawning in their specific biome.

Sail around and find water-accessible area where 3-4 biomes intersect. Build a sturdy base/fort with a nice view to the desired area.

It'll provide copious hours of enjoyment and to the victor goes the spoils, you.

Now a Neck vs a Leech gets old really fast, but a 1-2star troll wakes up whole swamp at night!

I've yet to find an area with Plains included and build a nicer fort than my missus.

With bronze armor and a bronze mace you can wipe them all and hardly lose a point. Even the brutes go down in 2-3 hits.

They won't spawn in the building area around a workbench. Best to build one somewhere in the Meadows far from any other biome, and build a house around it. As you progress you may want to wall off an area around your house, farm, beehives and other stuff.

After hearth and home update, there is a constant spawn arount player, so you (or your buildings) will be attacked every few minutes.
Killing bosses also changes night spawns, and after Eikthyr, you will be attacked by waves of greydwarfs (with shamans).

The best "workaround" is to play the game without killing bosses (you can get everything up to silver without killing any) and tame some wolves/boars to protect your buildings.

You don't HAVE to fight them. Just ignoring them (once you have good enough stuff) works just as well.

When you are bothered by them while working, don't be. They'll end up walking in your (pick)axe themselves sooner or later.

In short... just don't bother with them.

I have never managed to build something to the point where I didn't occasionally see greydwarves. Even carpets of work benches don't help.

IMO the Ward should be improved to generate a much larger anti spawn field. They're pretty expensive compared to workbenches.

scare them away with fire (torch)
execept for brutes

be advised to protect your torches and fires a bit
greydwarfs are going to attack them to turn them off

also great - sharp stakes placed around your property (but those require repairs from time to time)

That dont seem right, i only get attacked when there is a invasion.
There was always that one or 2 that spawns around, after you killed the first boss which was a thing befor this H&H.

If you build close to dark forest you will get attacked alot, so dont do that if you dont like it.

Does the Ward actually even prevent spawns or repel anything but players? I've never noticed them do anything, save from being able to lock other players out of interacting with your stuff.

Tho I will give you constant grey dwarf interference is really tedious.

On the one hand I don't want there to be nothing but on the other hand it's like "could you don't" and 'could you don't' is quickly winning out again.

Ditch Life bro!
Pick a spot, dig a trench (interrupts pathing), break LOS with the wooden walls = problem solved. There's the occasional staredown but thats about it.

There's a few things I do when I make an outpost. Building TP, a shack and a ditch. Hell, I dig ditches around everything I make. Plus side is you get a wee bit of stone along the way.

That way most mobs in game can't reach you, and if your trench is deep enough it's a lowkey mobgrinder. Making trenches took all my worries away. I can go AFK, and nothing can happen that destroys my base or surprise me. Get out your pickaxe and start 'picking'.

Moats take a while to dig out, but are totally worth it to ignore nighttime raids. You can do something similar when digging out copper veins if greydwarfs are an issue.

They are annoying, but they're only in the black forest, so once you're out of there you don't have to worry about them.

In the mountains you have the drake, which are (IMO) worse!
