Is late game still as boring as early game?
Lots of RPG games had a feeling of progression and you get rewarded with said progression by getting good stuff at different stages of the game. Be it having the ability to do laborous tasks much, much more easier with upgraded tools and tedious walking giving you ability to circumvent it with movement abilties or wings. Minecraft, Terraria,Stardew valley, Factorio, Subnautica, etc the list goes on. But from my experience with Valheim when there was a huge hype train on this game is that Gameplay felt the same and always felt like. never ending tedious chore. You couldn't teleport ores if I recall so you either have to smelt it on a new base or manually travel by boat to bring it back which could take to half am hour depending on how bad your map was. Combat was unsatisfying The boss abilities had horrid cooldowns like 5 minute usage time with a 20 minute cool down like wtf was that? Playing Valheim felt like I was playing a poorly thought out MMORPG on singleplayer and I stopped playing just before the ice mountain boss. Now years later I just want to ask did this game improve at all on that front?.

Depends what you consider boring. The biomes are different each time you progress. If you NEED a particular forsaken power more than 20% of the time you are doing something wrong. You can carry the materials for a workbench and a portal any where you go so that you can move anything but ore instantly back to a main base. If you build your main base on the start island its in the center of the world so the farthest you have to sail is half the distance of the world. The only time you have to sail is initial landing on a new island. You can set up a portal, explore and mark resources and points of interest, to return to later or you can mine things and fill your long boat with ore and make a single trip back to the main base. Once you are there you can smelt the ore. If you left your portal on that island you can take your axe to the boat, recover the materials, portal back ad rebuild the boat.
The forsaken power that you didn't get because you stopped before killing the mountain boss is the one that gives you fair winds for 5 minutes. That would have fixed your problem with paddling for 30 minutes.
If you want a game where you spend 2 minutes gathering resources and leveling up so that you can teleport to the next boss and insta win, this is not the game for you.

Game aint hard. You're under an illustion that it is because you spend most of your time farming crap and traveling than actually playing the game lol. I watched a 150 days video on this and 70℅ of the video played like this and 30℅ went to progressing. Got to artificially extend the game after all and hid the measly 6 bosses, actually lower since half if not most of it aren't even difficult just slapped with a large health bar. You can now jump off the highest mountain with a feather cape and basically wingsuit it for the coast.

It's debatable what all needs to be improved, but suffice to say, things have not changed much – they don't need to be changed.
Combat can be a bit more involved and varied now that parrying is not basically unlimited and there are new weapons and even spellcasting.
As for the Forsaken powers, they can be shared to other players and some effects of them are utterly ridiculous. 15 minutes effective downtime is just right.
The portal thing is going to stay as is too.

If you got to the mountains and were bored, then this game probably isn't your style. There have been a few things added here and there, but the way the game works at a basic level hasn't changed.

This game isn't for you. Thankfully your voice has been thoroughly drowned out by the on average 20,000 concurrent players on steam alone.
But don't blame us, or the developers, blame Tiktok and other dopamine overload media for having fried your receptors to the point where you can't get any satisfaction via delayed gratification. A fate I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.

As they've all said, the basic gameplay loop hasn't changed. If you didn't enjoy it then, you're not going to enjoy it now.

MODS that's it.. I can no longer play the vanilla game my friends and I use mods. We can teleport metal through portals, increased stam re-gen by 50% and added 5 minutes to boss buff timers.
But the game-play loop is the game-play loop if you aren't a person who likes to grind and gather mats then well.. the game is still very much the same in that regard.

Every biome follows the same exact "formula"... barely survive, and struggle a lot, when you first get there... things get a bit easier once you start collecting that biomes' resources, unlocking new recipes and gear and work stations / upgrades, getting stronger and stronger until you are ready to fight the boss... Kill the boss... move on to the next biome and the pattern repeats.

Speaking of mods. How is the modding scene for this game? Any huge ones or just those quality of life mods that you mentioned? If I am not a fan of the game usually the mods would save the day like Darkest dungeon Otherwise I probably have to pass on the game as others have said seems like the core gameplay loop is largely the same as I left it.Lots of RPG games had a feeling of progression and you get rewarded with said progression by getting good stuff at different stages of the game.
