Can you tame wolves in non-mountain biome?

With boar, you can lure to your main base regardless of biome or distance - if patient enough, can run them across entire island if find a 2 star boar on one end while main base is at opposite.

They also only require food and adequate pen size to keep breeding.

Never done yet so asking, but guides online say to breed wolves in mountain biome. However these are basic guides from pc gamer etc so not sure how accurate.

While it may be easier to tame and breed wolves where you find them, in mountain biome, can they breed anywhere else or is their breeding restricted to mountain only?

Yes. Yes you can.
But you invite all the other mobs to aggro on them, and can therefore make taming a much longer process.

"Why" do you ask?
Well, cuz when the wolves are scared, they will NOT acclimatize.

Dont try lure wolves to another biome , wolves are agressive against black forest . swamp and meadows mobs so will be almost impossible to lure 2 wolves like that , you most tame them in the same mountain you found them , in a pit or a secure place

May try taming wolves in mountains first then move to another base - assume unlike boar which you shove to move along, wolves you can command them to follow?

Read tame wolves can be ordered to follow you around.

Anyway, here is map of my world with starter island - top center has mountain biome I've named Mt Shasta. Found couple wolves there, killed one to make running easier and led other all the way back to main base in lower left (Lakeview, name obscured by my karve icon)

yeah create a trap just outside the mountain biome so youre not freezing. then tame the wolf there. once tame press E to make the wolf follow; E then makes them stay. and you can effectively have as many as you can tame following you at once.

Yes, keep them close and they'll follow you to where ever you want to train them.

Yep: i build a trap just beyond edge of mountain biome. Lure them into it and tame them in comfort. Tried and tested in HnH

Great thanks. Was hoping I could consolidate wolf breeding towards my main base away from mountain.

You need to tame reasonably close to the biome; they will not chase you miles away from mountains. But once tame you can breed them anywhere. Same with boar and lox.
