V+ dying the death by a thousand updates

Hi all:
When I tried game after thew April 12 update, all my characters were naked males. I am tired of trying with V+. Does anyone know of any comparable mods they could recommend (having used)? We are not looking for improved gameplay but rather utilities for building, things not wearing down, crafting from chests and auto-storage, a clock, and not much else. Any suggestions?

Dunno where exactly because I don't care and always stayed clear of VH+ (finding out that they integrated BepInEx into their mod was an immediate red flag for me).

What is wrong with BepinEx? I am simply curious, as I know nothing of it, except that it is used in ValheimPlus.

there are several singular mods that can accomplish what you want, but this would be the catch all.

just replace your old valheimplus.dll with this one. do the same for the server as well, (if you have access).

Have you even bothered to learn why they do not use a mod launcher like Thunderstore? It has to do with the nature of these frequent updates of Valheim, which, as you well know, breaks the mods every single time.

The mod authors are doing this in their free time, so cut them some slack.

the consensus among the community of active mod authors is that the authors of Valheim+ are (i dont want to say 'lazy'), not the inclined to fix up their mod in a timely manner...

the valheim plus mod authors are just not "active" in comparison to most of the other authors in the community. V+ is widely regarded negatively among them, so be grateful for a fix from some kind soul who did what the original authors dont have the time or motivation to do... update their mod...

Here's the crazy thing about mods. Once the author stops playing, the mods stop being updated. It's crazy ya know? Doing it all for free. Who would've thought...

The brilliance of modding is you can go in and fix it yourself if you think it's not being updated fast enough for your enjoyment.

BepinEx is a compilation of routines/variables and provides the modding Framework for Unity and some other platforms. Modding itself isn't native to Unity so instead of modifying the actual game code, you use this to inject it. Short answer.

you're preaching to the choir here brother... that's why im a member of several modding discord channels (Odinplus, Valheim Modding, Jotuun) with a direct line of communication to many of the best and active mod authors.

So? People do have lives, which they then part of their free time to work on this. This is the primary reason I stopped being a member of any gaming community/clan, all because people set their expectations too high and made unreasonable demands on my time.

what is the point of your post ??

i came into this topic to offer a solution to the problem at hand.

i factually stated that the V+ authors dont seem to give a damn (regardless of whatever reason), and you come in to say... "hey give them time"...

im saying, the topic creator doesnt have to "give them time" because someone else from the modding community fixed V+....

that's all there is to it....the end.

And you lambast the authors by saying everyone else views them negatively because of the lack of updates. Your offered solution is unreasonable. Stop acting like your way is the only way. Oh, you do not control the conversation, nor me, so knock it off.

Thanks, we may try this for now while we look into smaller mods to replace specific perks on this one.

OdinsCraftyBoxes and AzuCraftFromChests (one or the other) would be fine for crafting from boxes.

I use SmarterContainers for auto storage, but there are others as well.

AzuClock--can't go wrong with that one.

I don't know what building utilities you want.

If you want to explore a few more, AutoRepair is nice so you don't have to keep clicking the hammer for every piece. AzuExtendedPlayerInventory is nice for a dedicated row for equipment and quickslots. BetterNetworking is good if you play with friends. ComfortTweaks is nice if you want to extend comfort range. OdinArchitect has some nifty build pieces. Shield_Auto_Equip I find handy. ShowContainerContents is great. SpeedyPaths is nice. TransparentSail is awesome, as is TuneYourZoom.

If you use a server that automatically has ValheimPlus, then ValheimMinus is a must.
Great list, looking into some of these. The shiel
d one is a must for us.

It looks like server providers are moving away from V+ because of its problems with updates.
I started a new server yesterday with gportal and they now offer 2 options for modded server: V+ and Bepinex.
So I didn’t need to go through V+ and V- thing again.

Thanks. I have installed it but my config file isn't loading. Am I doing something wrong?
