Stone golem question

I keep killing a stone golem that is around many silver mines, they are getting annoying to kill. Starting to die to them as they only do AoE attacks and not the strike attack. I killed 7 stone golems in the same area. I even got 2 trophies. Are stone golems rare or common in mountains. Seem the drakes keep attacking them but do no damage which draws them to me. I kill it then feel like start mining again, then spawn back up. 2 Mines of silver that I know of. Can silver shield block their attacks, banded iron gets me staggered, have over 100 hp. Sausage, wolf and boar jerky.

I have only found the blue ones. If you want to wall them in. You need to use earthen walls with no stone around. I thought walled one in until a wolf attacked it and it shattered the rock then got out.

Yes, there are two different ones. One is Spikey (blueish highlights), the other is Slamey (red highlights). You can guess how they work. ;)

Have them chase you to a drake nest. Then adieu Casablanca.

For golem it stop using pike arm to attack. Using other arm or ground slam attack every time. It takes out trees and rocks in the area. Hope to do that to the silver mine but no luck.
They can destroy the silver mines if they are buried, only seen it happen once though. Might have been luck. Or a bug.

Wolf meat is easy to come by and everyone should have a few beehives for farming honey. I don't bother with Boar Jerky because I'd rather make Sausages with Boar Meat. I recommend Eyescream as a primary Stamina food just because Greydwarf Eyes are extremely easy to come by and Drakes, while much less common are loud and you know when they're about. They're also easy to kill. If you have a Draugr Fang, sniping with wood arrows is a one-shot kill. Two if they are alerted and their attacks are more bark than bite. Apologies for getting side-tracked but doesn't it seem like grabbing a Dragon Egg should result in say, three Drakes spawning in response?
One is left handed and the other one is right handed. I use dodge and the iron mace. If you dodge to the side he is handed on he gets confused and turns his back to you trying to turn around to attack you again. You can get 3 solid whacks in with the mace before you have to dodge again.

Dig a pit, drop them in, and use it as a pit trap for wolves.

In area close to one of silver mines, I made small walled are with earthen wall. It came in and was manage to block way out. Now just walk around stuck in that area. I seen it hit the drake across the screen like a baseball getting hit with a bat. Iron mace does around 40 damage, and once able to sneak attack with secondary attack and did over 200 in a hit. At first the stone golem did straight strike attack then aoe attack so it was easy to dodge then kill. The last stone golem did 2 different aoe (area of effect) attacks which made it impossible to close to. One attack did 40-60 while the other one did over 80. It did over 150 attack to a wolf. With the drakes and wolves attack, still had 95% hp left. Says it is normal but wonder if it is acting like 1 star. The pit for silver mine stops the golem but not sure on Aoe attack but opens up another issue when you get 2 wolves jump into the pit. I put cheap animal fence to keep wolves out but the golem destroyed everything. I try to lure golem off mountain area, but it stops and goes back. Goes back on patrol or find the nearest drake or wolf and attacks it. I have in the past when I went after the golem, drakes and wolves would target me over the golem.
I was trying to lure the golem first to black forest/swamp then try opposite way to the plains so bugs and furlings can play with it. but golem would not leave the mountains.

For the food, wolf jerky is simple like boar jerky. Eyescream just need to work up supply from the drakes.

If you dig a pit that is like, 1 wall deep or better, with steep sides, they cannot get to you. Just trench in the mine, finish mining, then defeat the golem after (you know, so you can leave and stuff).

If you face tank them, you'll want black metal shield and padded armor to reduce stagger. Some folks swear by rolling dodge + mining pickaxe.. but I find wooden arrows from a pit do just fine, or any other weapon if you meat shield them. Takes a bit. Be prepared for nightfall, and adds respawning.

Yeah , as mentioned above , best way to stop respawns is to dig a pit and get him to fall in. Then he can't get you and can't respawn. Worst is when drakes come along and kill him slowly , then he respawns.

A friend and I dug a pit the used the the iron grating to cover it over then built a mountain base around it , so that he was always there just under the floor , completely harmless. We eventually popped a hole in the mesh dropped in a couple dragon eggs and sealed it back up. this way he was illuminated.

*Edit - if you really want to get crazy and your are playing on a server with group of people , you can pop a hole in the mesh , then cover said hole with a lox skin rug.... one way in no way out.

The respawns are kinda weird with Stone Golems. They seem to continuously show up around the old log cabins and stone wells you'll occasionally run into on the Mountains but sometimes it's a one-and-done. I'm curious if trapping them in a pit will prevent additional respawns? As for dealing with them, I do NOT recommend the pickax. It works... but can be troublesome if you miss. If you have end-game armor and weapons available, the Porcupine and Blackmetal shield are a great combo. A parry followed by a heavy attack with the Porcupine does a LOT of damage to them. I haven't tried the Iron Mace or Iron Sledge. Their attacks are easy to dodge and once you become familiar with the differences between the light and heavy attacks they shouldn't pose much of a problem. They're slow enough you can put them to use cutting down trees or breaking rocks for you.
If you're in the Mountains instead of running Sausages, Wolf Jerky and Boar Jerky, Maybe try Sausages, Cooked Wolf Meat and Eyescream? Eyescream is my favorite stamina food. Drakes are easy kills and you can farm a Greydwarf nest for all the Greydwarf Eyes (and resin, wood, stone!) you need.

You know, I do get a chuckle out of getting the various creatures in Valheim to do my dirty work for me. :)
