Cartography Table Question

I finally built a cartography table, which lets me see the landscapes of what my friends explored, but is there really no way to see the markers they put?

it shares all the markers too but they'll be bleak. so you can tell which ones are yours and which are from your friends.

maybe (just to be sure) tell your friends to use the table too (both copy map and draw map)

I play single player but have 2 viking toons on two worlds. I made the cartography table for both worlds. My 1st player can see everywhere that my 2nd player visited on the 2nd world. However, on my 1st world, only the terrain that was explored is brighter but no text appears.

I clicked the toobox to enter data for both players. Checked the allow other players to see (or however that is phrased) Not sure what it works on my 2nd world and not my 1st. I do have a lot more explored on the 1st world, if that makes any difference. A lot is labeled there also. Maybe I have to wait for it to get recorded before I logged the player out?

Going to keep tinkering with it. May destroy it and create it again and try from scratch.

Update to my 1st post. I got it to work on both worlds. However its only 1 way. What I mean is my toon that created the table can then see the data markers from the toon that didn't create the table. Not the other way around though. IN both worlds, 1 toon has done 99% of the exploration, the 2nd toon has just marked a mushroom or something. But that mushroom marker doesn't display for the other toon.

Not sure if I described that very well, cause I am just 1 player sharing map data with 2 toons. There are advantages to having 2 toons over 2 worlds but that is different topic. Is it possible that each toon/player has to create there very own Cartography Table in each world? Not sure about that. Since the secondary toon on each map has little data, its working well enough for me. I did have to recreate the table with my other toon to get things to work in my 1st world.

The cartography table stores the pins of the last person to update the map data. In order to get everyone's pins, you'll need one person to update the map, everyone touches the table, someone else updates the map, everyone touches the table, and so on.

Just want to borrow your thread for a bit. They have any use for a solo player?

My Map Table just fills an otherwise unused corner in my house. I did not find any real use for it in SP.

I had no idea the table only stored one player's pins at a time. That's not really signposted in game.

Does it combine everyone's explored regions as you'd expect or is that kinda janky too?

I think it would be cool if there was an option to allow people to also copy the world seed from the cartography table ... like a, "take a copy of the map with you," option. Then it gave you rolled up map in your inventory. Hehe.

Yeah, uncovered map data is shared between any players so long as they touch the table, no matter who adds what or when. (Only after they've added it, obviously. It doesn't auto-refresh already-shared maps.) But the pins you get are only those of whoever touched it last.

I always wanted the damn thing to be a wall scroll. The table is cumbersome and unwieldy.

Actually yes they do. If you play more than 1 viking over 2 or more maps. They can share there map exploration via the Cartography Table

There are building mods that would let you embed it in a wall at that angle.

Actually the table does share every player's markers, the reason never saw any was because the friends I've played with hardly pinned any locations, haha. Now I know it does.
