What's the point of turnups?
So I am currently playing solo in the mountain biome, and I have recently created a boar farm. Next to the boar farm I have a large plot of land where I put my crops, right now 70% are carrots because me and my boars. The other 30%are turnips, and I have no clue what to do with them as you cannot eat them, I heard you cannot feed them to boars, and many recipes don't use them. Is there a use to them that I do not know, or should I replace the turnips with carrots?

its not how many recipes use it or not. Its whether the recipes that DO use it are helpful to you.
I am pretty sure turnip is required for one upgrade in your home, and it is also used in a number of solid foods that you use, possibly some of it used until you reach the plains.

Upgrade your cauldron to level 2 and the recipes will appear; once you have a turnip you can build a spice rack and that does it. If you're in the mountain biome then turnips are knida necessary for survival.

Turnip Soup was super great for Swamp to Mountain biomes. After that, just feed em to the pigs (and as others mentioned, need for spice rack and maybe a Mistland recipe).

Used in Turnip stew, black soup, and another late-game recipe. Also used to make the spice rack to upgrade the cauldron. Wiki also says that boars can eat them.
They don't have as many uses as some other ingredients, but they still have a use.
