To each their own. I get how the mist sucks but it does lend an air of mystery and foreboding to the place. And there are the wisp torches you can start setting around. Someone else hit it I think when they said that without the mist you gain a big advantage over the enemies with your bow. If the mist becomes too much for me I'll look into that mod. And sure, from an aesthetic viewpoint the removal of the fog makes the place look really cool.

any plan to make the wisp see further away? it just not fun being blind for no reason

i reached the mistlands having high hopes that the region would fix the lack of content,but i don't had a good experience but the way it is right now its just unplayable, a bad terrain with 20% of visibility do they even play or test the game?

It`s great, i love the mist, finally some tension and challenge.

Biggest gripe of the update imo.

The terrain is ridiculous when you're trying to chop trees and they are on some craggy bluff and the wood falls to god knows where.

The mistlands update its for hardcore players the problem its that 3-10% of the players are the hardcore ones, they made a update for 3% of the players so what will happen when the normal player reach the mistland? it will play it or i will say "bro this is way too hard just going to leave the game its not fun anymore", then u loose more of 40-50% of the players

Players using mods to solve a new designed biome should be a red alert to the devs that something its not right


i would say to fire who designed that biome and made those decision the game have a great base but the way its going valheim its going to sink fast, players already are not trusting the devs anymore and making new updates only for hardcores will send away more and more players.

The mist moves, you can see on the map which part of the mistlands is clear. Also the coastal areas are usually without fog

Players use mods for basically everything, modifying weight, strength, weapons, you-name-it. I wouldn't count that as an indicator of "bad game design", but more of a "people are different and have different expectations about what they consider fun."

Just to illustrate: Some people are quite good at building, but maybe consider aquiring the necessary resources to be a bit too grindy - so they just sandbox-spawn them in as they like. On the other hand, some other people are more keen on having to fight for their resources, and hence cannot afford overly complicated or pompous buildings. Both groups will still have fun with the game in whatever way they decide to play it.

So i don't like to cheat or mods and i like to play the game and this region its part of the game now but i think its so bad designed that its almost a mistake in game design and i can't avoid it or go to another biome(at least for another 1,5years) so i just need to stop play i say to myself this game is no more for me? cause i don't see a single soul already like the terrain generation of mistlands.

Step 1:
Install MistBeGone mod and give no ♥♥♥♥ about mist at all.

I started play Valheim with a few friends when it was released. We had great fun. A few weeks after we had started , we had done the Meadows and Eikthyr , the Dark forest and the Elder , dying with laughter most of the time , so much fun. Then into the Swamp. That was good and we got Bonemass , after a week . Then a couple of our group had to leave for RL issues , which left 3 of us. One of our group uses mods in other games, and had found some for Valheim. We dont use many , and certainly dont cheat. The best mods are to reduce weight , bigger inventory space in bags and chests, and bigger stacks. I could play with just those 4 or 5 quite happily, but i'd be happier if they were ' in ' the game, and not as extras. Mods are cheating ! Well , maybe, but i'm not cheating anyone else. I want to have fun. Ive paid for the game. What anyone does with it is up to them. But using just those few mods changes a ' bugger, this is really hard and i'm not enjoying it ' into a " yay, this is loads of fun ". I'm not saying anyone should use mods , but if the devs changed the game just a little , it would improve it SO much. I'll probably go to the mistlands, but if the mist and mobs are as annoying as everyone says, it'll be a short , one off visit. And thats a shame.

I kind of like the new area but dude, those dungeons. You either get a decent one, with lots of hidden rooms or one thats filled with twists, turns up and down, nothing but bugs n false hope only for the game to crash during a save and your next reload ya end up in your bed like "oh it was a bad dream"

Fight Yagluth and get an item that helps clear the mist around you a bit.

All the beautiful art of this zone is wasted IMO. In my opinion it was a mechanic added to keep archers from range kiting and chewing mobs up long before they could get to you. As it stands the only thing you need a bow for is the flying ass cheeks with the war of the worlds sound track.

to be fair to OP, the wisp is not that good at clearing the mist, it's still mostly obscured.
