Too many spawns around my base

Ever since I play this game I've been sowing workbenches around my base to prevent spawns around my farms (which I think should not count as a player structure when it comes to aggroing mobs). That already was an immersion breaker and really a chore, but since the Mistlands update that doesn't even work anymore, it seems mobs can spawn 10 meters from a workbench, or they can spot player structures from kilometers away. Every single time I spend some time cooking or crafting I hear a neck attacking my kilns, or I find my longboat with half its life depleted with a boar next to it. I've seen a greydwarf WALKING IN MY LIVING ROOM THRICE. Even with a dozen of workbenches carefully spread around, all of their radius overlap.
That's too much. If it was a challenge I'd take it, but that's just an annoyance. Please make it so advanced player strctures prevents spawns for hundreds of meters, I don't want to hear one of the meadows creature anymore.

1 Star wolves can just about take a Grey dwarf brute and live but this means that you will loose a few now and again the population remains semi stable.

Problem is with that is that stiff raid like "Foul smell from the swamp" will put a huge dent in the 1 star wolf population whereas would barely kill one or two 2 Star chaps...

I only released my 2 Stars to the wild because of the initial Seeker raids - which they have now rescinded! Now may have to wipe them all out just to prevent: as said above "the place looking like a junk yard"

Well, I was using 2 stars, but only began breeding them seriously the moment I thought it would be fun to have them help me attack Yagluth. (with regards of that, I had to many 2*wolves and did only 2 hits before he went down).

The trick is to keep the numbers down.

I've bred a total of eight 2* wolves at my main base at the meadows.
Six of those were kept indoors, the other two travelled along to my plains base.
I have been breeding a few over there until I had 4-6; can't remember the exact numbers.
After that I had to collect the meat every morning, but in general my population remained steady.

But yes, the junk can be overwhelming, I admit that.

I don't know what to say if the spawn blockers aren't working, but as far as looks and aggro goes, once you get the spacing correct using workbenches, you can replace the ones you don't want with campfires. They don't have to be lit. They're not as ugly as workbenches and they only draw revenge aggro, like if the mob is mad because it can't reach you.

If you are trying to cover a large area, it's possible for things to spawn in before the anti-spawn items load, so I've heard. Mine usually work in my base, but I did have a shaman show up once.

Easiest two solutions:

1) Build at an island. Raise the land and build upon that.
Most things won't spawn there anymore, event spawns may approach you but unless you provide some access, not even being able to enter your base. Flying spawns excluded from that.

2) Build at a hill and dig a trench around it. Start the trench at least 8 meters from your outside walls, place hidden campfires along the walls to prevent closer spawns,

This may perhaps not stop most monsters, but it would at least stop most of them.
There are some nice tricks to make it easier for you to cross the moat, of which the "gate bridge" may be the one most time consuming, but certainly the best defence.

digging down then placing the workbench in an enclosed building does work. but then you got holes all over your yard.
but yeah, as jonnin said, spawn proofing is a tricky thing.
might be easier in the long run to just build with attacking mobs in mind.

Breaking line of sight can help with this. Even with the spawn proofing, if they can see you they will come at you. They're drawn to light sources too. Even if they can't see you they might bang on your walls a little and will for sure bang on any standing torches left outside the walls and some of them will bang on your campfires. Blocking line of sight makes a difference and also works to hide your boat from them.

Even with trenches or earth wall you'll want to build back away from them because some mobs attacks will clip through.

Thanks all for your pieces of advice.
Moats and trenches are out of question, I've seen proud screenshots of them and I find them horrendous. And if I find farming wood to spawnproof to be anti-fun, I can let you imagine what I think about farming wood AND stone :D
Mods are out of question for me too, mostly on an early access game for obvious reasons. For now I see stakewalls as the only solution for now (I hope non-raid mobs don't attack them too), but I really hope devs bring back the old spawning mechanism. I didn't have this problem in earlier versions of the game (or to such a lesser extent that I don't remember it)

I took someones advice and released 6 Loxes outside my base.. they have destroyed every tree as far as I can see.. and the mobs are just continuous.. it's annoying.. I'll be looking out and just watch Deer, Boar, Geks spawn over and over and over and over and over and over and over.. and my loxes just kill them or chase them into the ocean.. which is dumb.. the land around me looks like a junk yard.. meat, resin, eyes, leather, wood, stone etc.. just all over the ground.. The spawns are way too close and frequent.. I hate them.

I'm afraid right now it's one way or the other;

Either use moats or an elevated build (like platforms / high rissen islands) and deal with those looks or have mobs harrass you over and over again.

The only other solution; create two worlds, use your knowledge of world A - in which you hunt and kill all bosses - in World B.

That way the worst enemies attacking you in World B will be boars and greylings; giving you the opportunity to do all the building, farming, taming and whatever you want to do in peace.
But even then, if you gather resources in World B, you may be attacked by the monsters of that biome.

I think it was me who gave you that advice.

if the Lox' are giving you too many problems, try to use Wolves instead.

Still got a lot of resources, but at least things you build / plant won't be destroyed by them.

Easiest way to gather those resources, start using a cart, run over the area to collect the items and drop them in the cart.
You can then transfer them to a ship and drop them somewhere in the ocean, or use the cart as perma-storage.

This has always been a thing since valheim released. The more noise you make and the more light sources you have will spawn more mobs. Also Mob spawn increases at night. Ever wonder why you hear Fullings running around the Meadows at night one shotting everything.

try Valheim Plus, it has an adjustable radius for the workbenches.
but mods are still gonna spawn. put up some walls, dig a trench. enclose your port fully to protect your ship(s)
but also note, mods are not officially supported, so use at your own risk.

Pretty sure if you make the radius big enough it effectively cancels out raids. They can never spawn. Which sucks. I like defending my base.

If you go about 50m you keep them far enough out that it's less annoying but still allows raids and random spawns to harass your base. Which I like.

And yea mods sucks, if the devs added these options I wouldn't use mods. Next patch will likely break my game and you never know when a mod will delete something or cause an issue, had one mod wipe an entire chest once. Oh well. I'd rather deal with that than the base mechanics in the game. Next patch will likely break my mods, which will make me look for another game, and I probably won't come back. That's what usually happens with games like this anyways.

spawn proofing is tricky. It is much easier to just defend your base with a moat, wall, or other approach so the majority of pests can't hit anything.
