Black Forge and missing crafting items??
I managed to construct the black forge by scraping together enough black marble and visiting 2 infested mines for cores...and then upgraded?? it with the cooler item. When I go to craft armor, I don't see the new carapace set? I've got the seeker resources collected, yet no recipe for the items? Do I need to have an artisan table nearby as well? Do I need to do the work in the Mistlands? I also don't see the new bow either?? Is there something that needs unlocking? I can make the crossbow however....confusing.
Thanks!
Thanks!

...thanks all, finally figured the progression throughout today's session...a slow-slow grind, especially since I've no 'wisp' to guide me; just pure brutish forward movement and lots of meads and head on a swivel for hidey holes to peek/shoot from...lol. Finding 2 isolated D-huts on small islands for the needed parts really helped, since one is right next to the needed root! Dang flying blob blew the nice huge door of my portal outpost however, too bad it's not in the construction list....
--I keep raids to a bare minimum by not defeating all the bosses, makes it a really slow grind indeed. Lucky I've been stocking up with needles from my Plains biome base, came in real handy, poison arrows worked pretty well on the flying blobs. The new bow should help things out.
So, for me it goes:
1. Ygg wood
1a. Blackmetal Pickaxe
2. Extractor mechanism
2a. Black Marble
3. Sap
4. Black Forge
4a. Cooler
5. Sap Refiner
6. Magic Table

I was lucky and managed to find some extractors without actually angering the dvergr, but it took me a good while to figure out where the soft tissue actually comes from. I'll be paying more attention to Hugin's tips from now on, sometimes his advice should be taken literally. "Pick their bones and break their domes!"

Something to do with the Dverger guys you find and the pulsating roots

I ended up having to look up the item they are referring to and I would suggest to the devs that it isnt intuitive, especially for those who didnt interfere with the Dverger

One of Odin's ravens, Hugin, tells you the first time you go near a root (which you'd realistically have to have done by the time you found and cleared 2 Infested Mines) the following: I ended up having to look up the item they are referring to and I would suggest to the devs that it isnt intuitive, especially for those who didnt interfere with the Dverger
"Kraa! Although severed from the trunk, I can see that magic still lingers in the roots of the old ash. Needless to say, no weapon of your own design will be able to break the bark. You need something better, fashioned by more capable hands."
This meeting with the raven is literally my first screenshot ( I take screenshots of anything new or interesting in game to chronicle my adventures and so I can look back on it later) in the Mistlands. The one before that was me starting my chicken farm, before that the first wisp coming to the fountain. If this riddle is too complex, then I'd suggest a less difficult game, like tic tac toe.
There are a lot of difficult/challenging things in the Mistlands. This is not one of them. The confusing part here for many is mostly the significant barrier to entry for crafting Mistlands gear that is not so present in previous biomes. I had a couple hundred sap collected by the time I found and cleared my first Infested Mine.
I will say that I think there should be an alternative way to get the necessary item. Dwarves clearly like to barter...

You need what is called "Refined Eiter". What you need to do:
1. Find ancient bones, and look for an ancient bone skull. The Ribcage won't do, 1/2 times there is a skull infront of the ribcage. You need a black iron pickaxe to break the skull and inside where the brain would be, there is a sludge called "Soft Tissue". Collect all of that, and keep gathering more as you progress. (Soft tissue is teleportable)
2. You need to find a dwarven fortress or bunker or camp, in which there would be blue box called "Components". That box contains the needle used to build a sap extractor. If you break the box or anything at all, the drawven camp gets permenantly hostile, which is unfortunate since they have mages and stuff. Mage with one star 2-3 hits you if you have full hp and Anti-magic buffs, so it's safe to say you waren't ever meant to kill them yourself. What you need to do is to wait for Seeker insects to attack the camp, and keep attacking the camp untill they either break the magic blue component box, or kill all the dwarves.
(the magical extractor needle component for the sap extractor is NOT teleportable)
3. then you need to construct a sap collector at a glowing ygdrassil sap, or something like that, then wait for the sap to collect (the sap is also teleportable)
4. You need at least 5 black cores (which are the pruple things you get in the new Mistlands dungeon), in order to build an Eiter refinery. then put the soft tissue and the sap in the refinery, and beware, because that refinery is going to damage buildings around it, so put it somewhere safe away from your main base.
5. Refined either is extremely valuable and used for all sorts of things. Between the weapons and armor + upgrades, I would say you need about 70-80 refined eithers in order for everything, but maybe more wont hurt.
(refined either has no cross mechanics with food you eat to get either)
