so apparently i have been missing a boss fight this whole time.

so long story short after beeing there for 2 weeks and plundering the mistlands of any marble i could find to build port marble i went back to a plains since i ran out on cloudberries for makeing salad and ventured into a new plains i wasnt before.

AND FOUND OUT THE PLAINS DO HAVE A BOSSFIGHT. i had been in this biome for over 1 week before i went to the mistlands before and never found any signs of a boss or any strange items or a sign telling me where the boss was. and since i didnt find any dungeons either i simply assumed this biome simply had no boss or was incomplete. and since i already had my full blackmetal tech i just ventured fourth into the mistlands.

i never fought the bonemass boss (but found his spawn 3 times already) as i hated the swamp and really didnt want to deal with a boss in there and apparently there was no reason to fight it i simply went into the mountains and did just fine over there. so apparently whatever this boss provides simply isnt needed for progressing in the game (please no spoilers ill fight it later probaly)

apparently the plains boss is called a yagluth. i saw people talking about this and simply tought it was a mistlands enemy i hadnt spotted so far. guess that was wrong.

please do not tell me what the boss needs to be summoned i like to find these things out by myself and i dont google stuff up for such games. ruins the experience for me. i only know it needs 5 somethings to spawn after visiting the altar which was quite far away south from my base which was odd given there is 2 queen spawns that are way closer to my base than this thing and i already beat the queen once but aside her power she didnt drop anything useful sadly.

so my question now is : does this yagluth boss provide something useful when you defeat it ? same for bonemass. i DO NOT WANT TO KNOW WHAT PRECISELY IT IS. just if its something worth trying to find the items needed to summon this boss for. like a new build option or just another bosspower like the queen. as if its just the later i wont bother finding out what he needs to be summoned for now.

hope my request is kinda understandable.

Well, I haven´t fought yagluth yet but I can tell you that bonemass drops something that is very useful for your adventures in the mountains.

I would recommend fighting bonemass yes, because that item is very important and you might miss out on a lot of stuff if you don´t get it.

Every Biome has a boss. I would recommend finding and killing all of them. I mean, if you are going to play the game then play the game.

If you already got through mistlands you probably don't need what Bonemass gives you. It would have been really handy in the plains and in mistlands though. And it will likely be useful in later biomes too. New players think I'm talking about one thing but experienced folks know that I'm talking about the other thing.

If you already got through mistlands, apparently you did fine without what you get from Yagluth. Probably would have made things a lot easier, but I guess you did fine without it. You have missed out on one of the toys that people enjoy though.

each biome has a boss that drops an item that is meant to aid progression in the game. it's up to you to decide how useful each item is to you, but some are NEEDED to progress. that's all I'll say so as not to spoil anything for you. happy hunting.

Yag (plains boss) gives you an item that, while not required, will make the mistlands a lot easier. I highly recommend it. This boss can be boiled down to "do you have fire resist potion". Its fairly easy if you have the sense to clear out the arena area ahead of time.

its a bit of a design flaw, but multiple bosses are totally optional right now.
plains boss: skip if you happen to score enough metal another way to do so.
forest: skipping makes life difficult. It locks you out of tons of iron, literally twice over.
swamp: skipping is harmless, but you will miss out on some loot and a very slightly easier time finding silver.
mountain: can not skip. arguably the best anti skip design.
plains: skipping makes life very difficult.
mistlands: can delay until next biome is ready. Drops nothing of value but boss power is useful to some builds.

Wow, what a story. Just for my curiosity: did you find silver? And as you „passed“ the swamp did you get iron only out if mistlands?

i found iron in these crypts that the key from the elder opens. i fought the elder quite early on and had a pretty tough time took long to kill his hp bar and thus decided to delay boss fights more. i didnt pass the swamp. i simply didnt fight bonemass. for 2 reasons : couldnt figure out what was needed to summon it and also hated the swamp so i gladly moved into the mountains and each biome after swamp has been a better experience by a mile i gotta say. they really gotta remove the permanenet wet debuff in the swamp. that stamina penalty is just horrible with these hordes of undead. plus leeches. urgh.

i found silver on the mountains. i tought it was only a really small vein which i mined out with a few swings. thanks to an golem accident shortly after i found out the vein was WAY larger underground when the golem broke the ground near the silver i had just mined away.

after that i started digging around the mountain biome (was a pretty small but super tall one near my first bigger base i made in this game) and found 2 more silver veins after a couple hours. made a new awesome bow with that that i used for a longass time till i got a new one in the mistlands. and a sword and a wolf cloak and some armor. apparently silver doesnt have much use for building unlike the "YOU REQUIRE MORE IRON SCRAP" stuff. unless i missed a building option for it somewhere. was only used for i think a workbench upgrade?

you have plains listed twice there. why?

skipping the plains boss makes life very difficult? so i have been playing on hardmode or what? i didnt see much issue in the mistlands till now. the fog is annoying sometimes but if you stand still for a bit it often clears up for a brief moment and you can see the area in front of you. and there is huge fogfree areas aswell. enemies are easy to tell due to the sounds they make. got suprised a few times but running and picking an area to fight them in always worked out so far. only died once in the mistlands when a blimp suprised me and killed my damn boat. and once in the plains when i encountered my first tar pit and was too overconfident. but the plains are like heaven. when i unlocked marble build pieces i decided it was time for a new mainbase this time in the plains biome.

the building process got a bit..... out of control you could say. constantly going to the mistlands biomes nearby to steal more black marble. and kill these damn rabbits for thier meat. havent seen a better hp food so far. i swear these rabbits have the most idiotic AI i ever saw. and apparently a shallow pond is the best method to catch em. it slows em down while you can still run after em and then just bully them with your sword. hitting them with the bow is pain once they notice you.

swamp was way harder than any biome after it.

You've def been playing on hard mode. Why skip bosses at all?? While some are not as good as others, it's all useful stuff. But the plains boss defeat greatly assists you in the mistlands.

Yes, you were playing on hard mode. You must be an above average player.

But really, Moder is the only boss that hard locks progression.

like i said i wouldnt have done that if it wasnt for that golem encounter. he showed me that silver veins are way larger underground. so i went on digging. and assumed that the area needs to be a halfway flat to fit the size of the silver vein. found 2 more by doing this. which was more than enough silver to get upgrades rolling. didnt max everything out of course. then went to fight moder as his spawn was rather easy to reach.

fight was supriseingly easy with the new bow and going for melee whenever he did his ground based breath attack. struggled alot more with the elder compared but was mabye undergeared for the elder.

black metal was stupid easy to get compared to anything before it. these goblins bring it your frontdoor when you settle in the plains.

till now i hate 2 enemies by far the most. boars and greydwarfs. neither because they do alot of dmg or are a threat but because THEY WONT ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ LEAVE YOU ALONE. i swear boars are the most aggressive thing in this game. even these moskitos arent that annyoing as you can just squash em and they bring you useful needles for the bow arrows.
and greydwarf ranged move spam in groups is just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying while youre trying to mine or harvest wood. i hate em.

damn. now i am scared doing this boss will make the game too easy..... it feels alright like its now.

You can choose to use what bosses give you - or not. So killing them won't automatically make the game easier, in fact killing bosses triggers newer and harder raid events, and some allow harder/later biome mobs to appear in meadows/black forest at night.

If you really want to keep the spoilers down then check out the stone monoliths you were dropped off at when you were first dropped off in Valheim, then you'll at least know how many bosses there are.

i did check the monoliths. but i tought the last one was past the queen somehow the whole time. my bad i guess.

also found out the item needed aswell -.- there was a small village near the boss altar and it contained something called FULING TOTEM. i never once saw such a thing before in all my plains time when gathering the black metal and ♥♥♥♥ and raiding villages. heck port marble was build where once a village was. and that is the first time i found such an item. and you need 5 of them. thats gotta be awhile anyway before i bother to find the other 4.
unless this one respawns after awhile. will see.
