making old materials usefull
I tried searching (and i might suck at searching) but if its a topic on it, please just leave a link so i can find it :)
(no modded server, and preffer no mods gameplay)
But:
As with new updates, weapons etc, i kinda miss that new items require old materials.
I have like 50 bronze saved up, 70+ iron, and god knows how much silver, etc.
I kinda hope that of what has been shown with mistland teasers. (Crossbow with silver/iron color handle, and "greenis" front) That new weapons, building schimatics will require more of "old" materials(silver for decoration, iron for handle, black metal for front, corewood for base).
Or maybe lett us melt gold coins for .....well somethings (have a pile of gold not needed anymore exept filling my treasury vault)
I understand if some players are against it.
But for me it would be fun to have a reason to farm Black forest, swamp, mountains and plains again, to get materials for new items for the higher tier. Would give us a reason to go back and excavate and use all the content.
Even if ALOT of new materials are added, and farming old stuff is at that time easy.
I still would like to have a reason to go back to ex BF for something else then.... copper for nails, or corewood for just "old" decoration.
kind regards:
Me :P

Most raw materials are useful forever esp assuming you build new homes from time to time.
a few are not.. ancient wood, silver come to mind as about useless after a while.
every biome has useful consumed stuff to farm so you will revisit them, though.
Wolf meat from the mountains, and obsidian for arrows.
coal, iron, slime, bloodbags, guts and such from the swamp
blueberry, thistle, dwarf eyes, wood/rock/resin, from forest
admittedly the meadows isnt great. Berries and boar meat, I guess are always a little useful.

yes, i do have old armor for backup, and sconces are around the village, same with iron standing tourches :P
but in the picture of the crossbow, it looks like more then just blackmetal is used, or more then just silver.
and that was kinda what i was hoping for, and hoped that more people was interested inn.
thtat for the new armor or weapon to suddenly have need of 10 copper, 5 bronze and then 10 of the new material to craft.
Or that for the new wall it required bronze nails (as one bronze makes 20 nails) or that just bronze for a decorative wall option. Regual wall, bronze decorated wall or nailed reinforsed wall etc.
just to have options, and have a use for some mateials instead of having farmed up from a new game, or just because i was out traveling or what ever...and then just having it thrown into the oblitiratoer as it just takes space in chests. XD

You can use bronze and iron for building(Like wall mounted torches, etc). Old armour and gear can be used as spare equipment in case you die and need some protection when you go and get your body back. Old gear can also be used as a decoration with armour stands.
