I'm seeing conflicting answers here.

In my experiences it's fairly common for the dark forest to border other biomes. This is usually advantageous as it's generally safer to build a temp base in them when entering a new area (especially if you find a decent sized tower not too far away from the edge), but until/unless the devs say otherwise, and especially if you're right next to a mistland, assume yes.

I had one happen in black forest, but I am fairly close to mistlands.

It was pretty much a non-event anyways. I built a standard stone building with wood roof, and they banged on it for a while not seeming to do much, so I finally stepped out the front door and finished them off.

I think it was just several normal seekers and seeker brood. No solders or stared anything that I remember.
