Let's talk about the weather
I'm going to sidestep the issue of frequency of bad weather, although it does seems like the frequency of intense storms or impenetrable fog is a bit high. My problem is with consistency, mostly across biomes.
As an example, I get up in the morning to a lovely day on the beach, pack up to set sail to my new destination, eat a good meal, hop in the boat, sail out a bit, and it's a hurricane out there. From the beach of whatever biome I am/was in, it's a nice sunny day, and I can see for miles, but it's deathtrap in the ocean biome just off shore.
So, I sail back to shore, wait around for a day, wasting the food. Wake up the next day, and it's storming, or thick fog. It might be nice and clear in the ocean biome, but how am I supposed to know without possibly wasting another day's food.
It's a similar situation with the mountains. I might attempt to climb a mountain and find out it's a blizzard, or wait around due to a storm where I'm at, while it's a nice sunny day above.
Yesterday I was trying to figure out if a fuling village had a totem. It just happened to be on the edge of a small patch of black forest and (I think) a sliver of mountain. I could see the village crystal clear while standing in black forest, but it was just a bit too far away. Step across the line to plains, and it was so foggy that I couldn't seen my feet.
I don't remember this being such an issue in the past (or even an issue at all). Is anyone else noticing this? Does it seem like something changed in the weather algorithm with Mistlands that makes all of the biomes weather completely independent?

Well after 1500 hours playing Valheim, Im just going to unistall it. I love the game. I have made ticket after ticket to the dev team that the weather is broken and needs some tweaks, and its only gotten worse, for all the reasons above. I will no longer be recommending it! May check back in a year or so. Now to find a new replacement game!

It's not new. I used to have a base that straddled black forest and meadows. It was funny when one side stormed and the other side was clear just from walking from the house to the garden.

You forgot the always rainy weather in the swamps (though there is rainy and rainy).
I can't say if weather patterns are independent or linked. But this can be exploited by stepping aside and waiting for a few secondes.
In the past, there were at least biome-bound environmental effects (being wet, freezing), for sure.

I haven't noticed that at all but I do know that IRL you can have (and actually see) the lines in the fronts where weather systems meet and be in clear weather and see where the pouring rain is (check out some storm chaser videos). This also happens at sea (squalls) and you get lake effect weather near the Great Lakes and both land and sea breezes depending on the time of day (from both oceans and lakes).
When I lived in Utah you could see where the cloud line came down the mountains. Completely clear below the cloud line and thick fog (with a definite break) inside the cloud line.
I've noticed in game that right after sun up you can have fog and it usually clears up after the sun rises a bit more. I kind of like it. It keeps things interesting. If I've all ready eaten for the day and the weather is too extreme where I was planning on going I'll just portal somewhere else and do a different task on my to do list or I'll just garden and tend livestock.

Fog in plains is really annoying. I'm not much looking forward to the current end game for that reason. Every other weather condition, I will simply put up with, because the alternative is idling around wasting my time. But trying to explore when I can't actually see anything just feels like the game is playing a joke at my expense.
