Is there a way to do this ?

Hi, just need a confirmation.
I found the game not that challenging soon as you know how it works.
Only played solo so far, and except in the beginning where I did rookie mistakes and died several times where it was really avoidable, after that I never really felt the game was hard.
We still can be killed anytime ofc, but most of the time if it happens, it’s the player fault.
Lack of attention, fatigue or just overestimating his ability in a specific context cuz everything went without issues during many sessions before that, etc.
It’s at that time a 2 stars pop up with several others enemies and you get caught pants down or outnumbered in a tricky terrain configuration which cause your death, etc.
But usually it’s really possible to prevent dying most of the time if you play carefully and methodically.

I heard the game scale the enemies spawning to the number of players active, which seems logical, but am actually not sure it’s the case… is it ?
And if it’s the case, is there a way to play solo and trigger that scaling of difficulty like if there was 2 players active instead of one ?
I would like that to be possible (if it’s not doable yet, idk, feel free to enlighten me if it’s already the case).

that would be a good way to increase the challenge for those who played long enough to overcome the difficulty of valheim.
Same in MP, the challenge would be better if you could, for example, be 3 friends (all veterans of the game) and set the difficulty to face a number of enemies normaly popping up only if you are 5 to play instead of 3, etc…

Do you think it’s possible ?
Maybe within game files by changing these data’s if they are accessible for example, etc…

And also the best would be, in the final version of the game, to have the option in the settings to change that ourselves in just couple of clicks.
But I am not entirely sure how the game balance that and set these parameters based on the number of players active, and for the game to remain challenging by spawning a balanced number of enemies, etc…

I just would like to be able to play solo and double the number of enemies like if there was 2 players cuz it doesn’t feel challenging enough most of the time.
I really hope at least there will be some kind of way to increase the difficulty like that at some point.

Remember that scaling limits out at 5 players (anything over 5 is just simply not counted).

Thanks, yep not gonna go higher than that… 25% increase max is not double the difficulty I initially wanted to try, but it’s worthy of a try.
And there is the problem of constant pressure over the base.
If they are too many, I am gonna constantly have to deal with them at home, it’s gonna be unplayable at some point. probably better to not seek too much boost of the AI then…
Or I must really start from scratch a new base, search a base at sea or something, or close it entirely from the surrounding with a portal as entrance, just to be safe on that front and do everything else.
Anyway, gonna test it step by step up until +25% and see how it goes…

Isn't it easier to install mods which were made exactly for cases like this?

In some other games (for example, Avorion springs immediately to mind), the game is controlled by plain-text configuration and script files in the game's data folder. It is not unreasonable to think that might be the case here.

For clarity, in this case it's not... but the thought that it might be isn't at all unreasonable.
Yep I also experienced that in Hearts of Iron 3 couple of years ago. Spending quite a lot of time on tweaking the data’s to make each and every units more coherent, realistically speaking.
That’s often the first way coming to my mind following these experiments since.
It’s definitely the heaviest and constraining way, it’s much easier like ie if you have a modding tool app delivered with the game, but it’s not so common in my xps.
Such as accessible .txt files, these last years I haven’t see so many like that, at least it’s more often than a modding tool delivered for free I think…
But it definitely exists in many games, that’s true.

Difficulty in multiplayer scales 5% per player in the area. Meaning enemies have more HP and hits stronger (but only 5% per player)

Google Creature Level and Loot Control mod. I believe there are also some videos on YT. Check it out and see if that is what you want.

It is possible in singleplayer, but I'm not sure if it could be done in multiplayer. Just enable the console by inserting
-console
on Valheim's launch options, enter a world, open the console with f5, enable the developer commands by typing
devcommands
, then use the
player <number of players>
command (replacing <number of players> with the number of players you want to emulate the spawn scaling of) and Bob's your uncle.
