They are doing things at their pace. People think that they are entitled to get updates or a finished game faster... Pro tip, that's not how Early Access works but most people who are complaining either don't know or don't care. THEY WANT IT NOW. And they're getting abusive. I don't blame them for turning comments off. The vitriol and abuse achieves absolutely nothing.

Do I think IG are being smart about their updates? Nope. Do I think they're handling communications to their community effectively? HELL NO. At this point they're probably losing as many fans as they're gaining. But it is what it is. They probably know that the Mistlands update better be heckin' awesome or else the wailing and gnashing of teeth will be deafening - and rightly so.

If you are defending Valheim in any capacity, dont, stop, get some damn help. When did this game come out? February of next year will have been two full years this game has been out, and the only update thats been released was more decorative content and some new things added to existing biomes. Thats it, now lets compare valheim to core keeper, a game thats already had two big updates and next month having the third. Stop being blind and supporting people who have clearly shown they dont care about you. If they gave any focks, we would see something, hell project zomboid developers share what they are working on every week. We get nothing from the valheim team, and the worst part is, yall have waited this long for the first big update, how long you gonna wait for the next one?

Because devs don't like comments and updating.

Its not the first studio who does that.
Check 7 days to die, which is in EA for 9 years and for 5 releases update once a year and everyone is fed up with it except for the whitest of the knights.

Iron Gate doesn't need to do anything quite frankly. They can move at whatever pace they want. Any slower may cause people to never return but they have your attention still so they win. :)

These issues are not a zero sum game. Locking update related topics are done out of necessity. They are locked because they are no longer capable of being productive at their very core. Even if the company is at fault for causing the topics in the first place. It does not mean locking the topics is a mistake. You can either let your community go radioactive and eat itself alive, or you can choose to stop it.

Proverbially, you're talking about throwing the baby out with the bathwater from my perspective. I agree with the rules or decision that such topics should be locked. They are black holes that need to be quarantined. Even if I also agree Iron Gate hasn't really been transparent nor followed through with their promises/roadmap.

And would you have a little think on what would possibly make comments like that come up? How much money did they make, and how much money seems to be getting put back into the game as of the last TWO YEARS?

Future updates have become an contentious topic among the community. Too much asking "are we there yet" and escalating from there. It's gotten to a point where people whip themselves into a frenzy over it. So locking most topics on the subject had to be done for the sake of toxicity within the community.

Threads getting locked is fairly obviously done to stop a discussion harming its readers and participants. That's normal business.

What I don't get is the merging. Are we not supposed to be discussing these topics at all, even in normatively productive threads? Are they being merged because it makes them easier for reading and reference later by mods and developers? It's you guys' forum, tell the community how you want us using it. We wouldn't be here if we didn't want to participate what you've got going on.
